The 36-year-old actress and director spoke openly about her bold fashion choices in a new Vogue Germany cover story, explaining she plans to keep wearing the daring looks that have become her signature. <\/p>\n
Dakota said she felt empowered rather than exposed by her sartorial decisions, which have frequently made headlines at major events.<\/p>\n
In the interview, the Verity star was asked whether she ever worries \u201cabout whether a naked dress might be \u2018too sexy\u2019.\u201d <\/p>\n
She replied candidly: \u201cI really don\u2019t care.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nDakota then added: \u201cI\u2019ve been able to wear some of the most beautiful dresses, and I feel beautiful in them, so I wear them.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cSometimes those dresses look good on me. But there are also some we\u2019ve tried on that didn\u2019t look good at all. It depends on the shape, the finish, the colour, and everything else. So if I find a beautiful dress that I feel comfortable in, of course I want to wear it! And it\u2019s fun to wear a sexy dress.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAccording to Vogue Germany, Dakota \u2013\u00a0who is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith and Miami Vice star Don Johnson \u2013 credited her mother for instilling a sense of confidence in her from a young age.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cMy mom was just very open about the topic of bodies.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cShe taught us how to take care of our bodies and love them, and that our bodies are beautiful.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd I think that\u2019s something really important for a young girl because we\u2019re constantly told that we\u2019re not good enough.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cAnd if you\u2019re not told from a young age by the woman you look up to the most that you\u2019re perfect and smart and special and strong and brave, it can really break you. It\u2019s hard to re-teach yourself that love later on. That was a huge gift she gave me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nOne of Dakota\u2019s most talked-about \u201cnaked\u201d looks was a sheer black lace Gucci gown worn at the Kering Foundation\u2019s Caring for Women dinner in New York City on 11 September, where the long-sleeved design featured intricate floral embroidery over a black balconette bra and underwear.<\/p>\n
\nHer hair was styled in a loose up-do, accentuating the gown\u2019s high neckline, and she accessorised with emerald earrings, a matching necklace and black open-toed heels.<\/p>\n
\nLater that month, on 25 September, Dakota appeared at the Zurich Film Festival in another sheer look \u2013 a long-sleeved indigo lace gown with a tulle skirt that began below the hips. <\/p>\n
\nUnlike the Gucci design, the Daddio and Materialists actress opted not to wear visible undergarments beneath the ensemble.<\/p>\n
