Shakira<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>will absolutely be rooting for Bad Bunny<\/span><\/a><\/strong> when Super Bowl LX<\/span><\/a> arrives.<\/p>\n

Less than a month after news broke that the \u201cMoscow Mule\u201d hitmaker would be headlining the Apple Music halftime show<\/span><\/a>, Shakira, 48, voiced her support of the NFL\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about time!\u201d she told Variety<\/i><\/span><\/a> in an interview published Tuesday, October 21. \u201cI remember when we did ours that even having part of our set in Spanish was a bold move. \u2026 Acceptance of Spanish-language music as part of the mainstream has come so far from when I started. I hope and like to think that all the times my music was met with resistance or puzzlement from the English-speaking world before it was embraced, helped forge the path to where we are now.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Shakira shared the Super Bowl stage with Jennifer Lopez<\/strong> in 2020, the Grammy winner was able to perform some of her biggest hits, including \u201cShe Wolf\u201d and \u201cWhenever, Whenever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTaylor Swift isn\u2019t opposed to playing the Super Bowl halftime show, but she doesn\u2019t plan to tackle that project while her fianc\u00e9, Travis Kelce, is still playing football. Swift, 35, weighed in on the rumors that she was asked to play the 2026 edition of the event during her Monday, October 6, interview on The [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But when Bad Bunny, 31, joined her on stage, the pair performed Spanish-speaking songs, including \u201cChantaje.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so proud that Bad Bunny, who represents not only Latin culture but also how important Spanish language music has become on a global scale and how universal it has become, is getting to perform on the biggest stage in the world,\u201d Shakira continued. \u201cIt\u2019s the perfect moment for a performance like this. Not everyone, however, is thrilled with the NFL\u2019s decision to book Bad Bunny for the headlining gig set for February 2026 at Levi\u2019s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.<\/p>\n

A petition<\/a><\/span> has begun on Change.org<\/span><\/a> to swap the Puerto Rican superstar for country singer George Strait<\/strong>. More than 58,000 people had signed as of press time.<\/p>\n

Danica Patrick<\/strong><\/a><\/span> and President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/span><\/a> have also spoken out and criticized Bad Bunny as the halftime performer.<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny himself previously responded to the naysayers while hosting Saturday Night Live<\/i><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl and I know people all around the world who love my music are also happy,\u201d he told viewers<\/span><\/a> on October 4.<\/p>\n

After briefly speaking in Spanish, Bad Bunny quipped: \u201cIf you didn\u2019t understand now what I just said, you have four months to learn!\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, the musician has the support of many artists, including Lopez, 56.<\/p>\n
