Jimmy Fallon’s family dog has died<\/p>\n
The 51-year-old Tonight Show host has revealed his beloved pet pooch Gary has passed away, as he paid an emotional tribute to the Labrador.<\/p>\n
He wrote on Instagram: She was the last name we signed on every birthday card.<\/p>\n
“She was our first baby, a therapist, a pillow, a big sister, a schoolmarm, a comedian, a party girl and a rebel. “Definitely not a watchdog \u2014 she would have let burglars in and shown them where we kept the bacon and American cheese slices.<\/p>\n
“Always smiling even when she slept. She loved a good scratch and would lean into you if she liked you, though ‘if’ is generous \u2014she did this for basically everyone.<\/p>\n
\n“She would jump into the pool immediately after being shampooed and dried (noooooo!) then she\u2019d do her laps (backstroke – jk doggie paddle) then lie in the grass on her back doing bunny kicks with her tongue sticking out.<\/p>\n
\n“That meant summer to me. 13 and a half years we were lucky to have with you.<\/p>\n
\nFranny, Winnie, Mommy and I miss you. The house misses you.”<\/p>\n
\nJimmy thanked Gary “for everything”, and opened up on how he and his family are coping with the loss.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “The house is so quiet. The quiet is so loud. But that quiet is slowly being filled with stories about you and laughter amongst the sniffles.<\/p>\n
\n“Thank you for everything. Gosh, we miss you so much. Goodnight, Gary.”<\/p>\n
\nEarlier this month, Jimmy insisted he would continue to avoid being too “political” on the Tonight Show, which came after the Donald Trump administration put pressure on several late night hosts following the suspension and reinstating of Jimmy Kimmel.<\/p>\n
\nAppearing on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street, Fallon said: \u201cOur show has never really been that political, you know.<\/p>\n
\n“We hit both sides equally, and we try to make everybody laugh, and that\u2019s really the way our show works.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOur monologues are kind of the same that we\u2019ve been doing since Johnny Carson was hosting The Tonight Show. So really, I just keep my head down and make sure the jokes are funny.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nFallon pointed out he has a “smart” team of writers, and their goal is to create something for everyone.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI have great writers\u2026 clever, smart writers. And we\u2019re just trying to make the best show we possibly can and entertain everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
