John Travolta<\/strong><\/a> and his daughter, Ella, are testing the boundaries of their relationship in the upcoming film, Black Tides<\/em>.<\/p>\n Deadline<\/em><\/a> reported on Monday, October 20, that Travolta, 71, will star in Black Tides<\/em> alongside Melissa Barrera<\/strong>. Ella, 25, will have a key role in the thriller alongside \u00c1lvaro Mel<\/strong> and Dylan Torrell<\/strong>. Details about Ella\u2019s character have yet to be announced.<\/p>\n According to the outlet, Black Tides<\/em> will follow an estranged father (Travolta) trying to reconnect with his daughter (Barrera) and grandson (Torrell) during a sailing adventure off the Spanish coast. However, disaster strikes when their boat is attacked by a pod of rogue orcas. The battle with the killer whales will lead to a fight for survival for the ship\u2019s crew in the open waters.<\/p>\n Filming for Black Tides<\/em> has begun with principal photography in Gran Canaria, Spain.<\/p>\n \u201cShooting at sea is one of the hardest things you can do in film but the footage we\u2019re getting is stunning,\u201d producer Adri\u00e1n Guerra<\/strong> said to Deadline. \u201cThe cast has bonded in a way that\u2019s rare and powerful, and Renny\u2019s directing chops are on full display \u2014 balancing raw spectacle with real human emotion.\u201d<\/p>\n Black Tides<\/em> will be Ella\u2019s fifth on-screen role. She previously appeared in 2009\u2019s Old Dogs<\/em> and 2019\u2019s The Poison Rose<\/em> alongside her father. Ella has also had roles in the films Get Lost<\/em>, and Nice People<\/em>, which are currently awaiting release.<\/p>\n Ella is the daughter of Travolta and late wife<\/a> Kelly Preston<\/strong>. The couple also shared sons Benjamin, 14 and Jett.
