Dancing With the Stars<\/i><\/a>\u2019 non-elimination week came as a surprise to the cast \u2014 and a former pro dancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was hoping for an elimination,\u201d Peta Murgatroyd<\/strong> <\/a>said on the Friday, October 17, episode of her \u201cPenthouse With Peta\u201d podcast<\/a>, recapping this week\u2019s Dedication Night with fellow alum Sharna Burgess<\/strong>. \u201cNot like that\u2019s a terrible thing to say, but someone\u2019s got to go home.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Tuesday, October 14, live episode, the DWTS <\/i>couples performed emotional tributes<\/a> to a special person in each star\u2019s life. At the end of the night, cohosts Alfonso Ribeiro<\/strong> and Julianne Hough<\/strong> revealed that there wouldn\u2019t be an elimination and all votes would roll over to next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know why they don\u2019t because it\u2019s a sad situation,\u201d Murgatroyd, 39, noted on her podcast of the decision to avoid eliminating a couple in the wake of such emotional performances. \u201cBut, I\u2019m in two minds about it because Elaine [Hendrix]<\/strong> coming down and speaking at the end with Andy [Richter]<\/strong> was really sweet. They [were] so elated and happy that everyone made it through.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJordan Chiles and partner Ezra Sosa were fully prepared to say goodbye to another Dancing With the Stars duo on Dedication Night. Following the emotional performances on Tuesday, October 14, Chiles, 24, exclusively told Us Weekly that the no elimination twist was \u201cthe most devastating thing ever.\u201d \u201cI think this was the first time I [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While Murgatroyd was equally happy for Hendrix, 54, Richter, 58, and the rest of the mirrorball hopefuls, she still was expecting an elimination. (Hendrix and Richter shared a sweet hug on the ballroom floor after <\/i>Ribeiro\u2019s announcement.)<\/p>\n

Burgess, 40, however, thought the non-elimination was signaling another twist up ahead.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre team dances next week?\u201d Burgess questioned, referring to the pairings splitting into groups to perform a joint routine in the ballroom. \u201cI figured [they decided not to eliminate anyone] because they need an even number of couples.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not known whether season 34 will include team dances, but the stars were just as confused as Murgatroyd and Burgess when no one went home on Tuesday. Contestant Jordan Chiles<\/strong>, for her part, exclusively told Us <\/i>that the twist was \u201cthe most devastating thing ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this was the first time I was like, \u2018We\u2019re in elimination and what is happening?\u2019 Only because we rehearsed it. We rehearsed everything going on,\u201d Chiles, 24, told Us <\/i>on Tuesday<\/a> of the pre-show dress rehearsal. \u201cI think everybody \u2014 not even just us \u2014 but everybody\u2019s moods were just like, \u2018Are you serious right now?\u2019 I was pissed, personally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chiles\u2019 dance partner, Ezra Sosa<\/strong>, was similarly confused by the switch.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t play these mind games with us. That\u2019s not right,\u201d Sosa, 24, quipped to Us<\/i>. \u201cIt\u2019s almost worse. You\u2019re going to line us up? No, girl. No. Send someone home. Just do it. Come on.\u201d<\/p>\n
