A midnight mishap! Ryan Seacrest<\/strong><\/a> recalled an incident where Taylor Swift<\/strong> <\/a>accidentally ended up with his hosting communication gear during Dick Clark\u2019s New Year\u2019s Rockin\u2019 Eve<\/a> 2015<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was with Taylor Swift one year<\/a>, it was cold, so I gave her my coat after she\u2019d just performed and I realized all of my communication equipment was attached to it,\u201d the Emmy winner, 48, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, December 29, while promoting the holiday special with cohost Liza Koshy<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cSo, I couldn\u2019t really communicate with anybody in the production, which I didn\u2019t think about prior.\u201d<\/p>\n When the Live With Kelly and Ryan<\/em><\/a> personality began taking off his jacket to offer it to Swift, 33, during the live broadcast, the Midnights<\/em> musician quipped: \u201cAre you stripping? This is a family show. This is inappropriate!\u201d<\/p>\n The moment with the \u201cAnti-Hero\u201d singer<\/a> isn\u2019t the only stressful moment that Seacrest has experienced while filming the live special over the years.<\/p>\n \u201cI have been stuck in the elevator getting up to the ball before. That was a little stressful because they tell you to remain calm and it\u2019s almost impossible,\u201d the Georgia native \u2014 who cohosted New Year\u2019s Rockin\u2019 Eve<\/em> with Clark from 2005 to 2011 and took over for the cultural icon after his death in 2012<\/a> \u2014 shared. \u201cThere are things that happen along the way that come together in the final seconds. [For example], performers who are not ready, but we try to make things up to say in the interim so that it looks like we\u2019re on schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n Seacrest told Us<\/em> that despite his years of experience, he still feels like he has something to prove every time the annual event rolls around. \u201cI was a kid watching this show, watching other people do the things that I get a chance to do every day. Wanting to do it. And I feel like I\u2019ve gotta prove that I\u2019m worthy of doing it<\/a> every single time,\u201d he explained. \u201cI think that is part of what keeps it exciting for me too.\u201d<\/p>\n Koshy, 26, for her part, joined the special as a cohost for the first time in 2021.<\/a> \u201cI am looking forward to my second year. I\u2019m not the new kid on the block anymore,\u201d the YouTuber told Us<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019m very happy to put all those learnings into use and to go down the streets again and be interactive with our huge crowd that\u2019s coming.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Last New Year\u2019s Eve, Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> made headlines after he threw shade at Seacrest\u2019s broadcast<\/a>. \u201cIf you look behind me, you\u2019ll see Ryan Seacrest\u2019s group of losers performing,\u201d Cohen, 54, said while cohosting CNN\u2019s New Year\u2019s Eve Live<\/em> with Anderson Cooper<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, but if you\u2019re watching ABC, you\u2019re watching nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n The Watch What Happens Live<\/em> host later joked via Twitter that he had been \u201coverserved\u201d at the time of his comments<\/a>. Although he laughed off his drunken rant, he expressed regret for calling out his fellow television personality.<\/p>\n \u201cI did wind up kind of starting to throw ABC under the bus and that is my only regret from the night because I really like Ryan Seacrest<\/a>,\u201d the Missouri native said during a January appearance on The Howard Stern Show<\/em>. \u201cHe\u2019s a really nice guy. And I was \u2014 as they say \u2014 in my cups, and I was kind of enjoying the rant. I was like, \u2018Wow, it\u2019s really fun being on CNN just ranting like a nutty guy.
