It\u2019s hard to imagine what it must be like to be as famous and successful as Jennifer Lopez<\/strong> while still balancing the duties of parenthood. And it was apparently something that Lopez struggled with until she got a bit of a reality check from her own kids.<\/p>\n The 56-year-old appeared as a guest on The Howard Stern Show<\/em><\/a> this week on Wednesday, Oct. 15 to promote her new film, Kiss of the Spider Woman<\/em>. During the conversation, she opened up about a discussion she had with her twins Max and Emme, now 17, when they were preteens during the COVID-19 pandemic that made her change her approach to parenting.<\/p>\n \u201cThey spoke to me, [and] they\u2019re like, \u2018You\u2019re not a regular mom. You\u2019re not here every day. You don\u2019t drop us off and pick us up [like the other parents],’\u201d Lopez recalled, via People<\/a>. \u201cAnd I realized how much they needed me there.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time, Lopez said that being a single parent made her feel as though she had to work harder to provide for her kids, until she realized they just wanted a present mom.<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t just about me giving them a great life \u2026 It was about me being there for them all the time,\u201d she continued. \u201cI started trying to balance that a little bit more.\u201d<\/p>\n As a result of the \u201cwake-up call,\u201d Lopez said that she and her kids have \u201cthe best relationship now.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI just was like, \u2018Okay, you\u2019re gonna know\u2014if you didn\u2019t know before how much I love you and that you were the main thing in my life\u2014everything I do for you, you\u2019re gonna f\u2013king know now,’\u201d she quipped.<\/p>\n Lopez explained that showing up for her kids is all about her \u201cbehavior\u201d and that her team, including her longtime manager Benny Medina, know \u201cthat my kids are my priority.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo if I say \u2018I can\u2019t do this because of the kids, they just, they don\u2019t even touch it,\u201d she added. \u201cThey respect it in a way that they know it\u2019s a losing battle. There\u2019s nothing they can say if I say no, it\u2019s no.\u201d<\/p>\n
