Ansel Elgort<\/strong><\/a> is taking on a different role and is headed to the stage!<\/p>\n The 31-year-old actor is best known for his work on screen, but will now be making his professional dance debut in a production of Quadrophenia, A Rock Ballet<\/em><\/strong>, according to People<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n While this may be a surprise to some, Ansel<\/strong> is no stranger to the stage or to dancing, having trained in ballet and performed in musicals when he went to a performing arts school. He also showed off some moves in the 2021 movie musical West Side Story<\/em>. <\/p>\n Quadrophenia, A Rock Ballet<\/em> is based on The Who<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s 1973 album of the same name, written by the band\u2019s musician Pete Townshend<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n The upcoming production will take place at New York City Center and is set to feature choreography by Paul Roberts<\/strong> and direction by Rob Ashford<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Ansel<\/strong> will reportedly take on the role of \u201cThe Godfather.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cRock n\u2019 Roll is not dead,\u201d the actor shared in a statement. \u201cI think it\u2019s having a rebirth right now, downtown NYC you can hear electric guitars squealing through bar doors as people are hungry for live music. Even better, a rock ballet!\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy roots are in ballet and theatre and to be able to return to the stage in The Who<\/strong>\u2019s Quadrophenia<\/em> rock ballet feels like a gift from the rock gods,\u201d he continued. \u201cWell, one of them himself, Pete Townshend<\/strong> already wrote me a note welcoming me on board, and I\u2019m framing it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to welcome Ansel<\/strong> to Quadrophenia<\/em>. The spirit of Rock n\u2019 Roll was not just my generation. It\u2019s every generation,\u201d Pete<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always been very impressed with Ansel<\/strong> as an actor and knew about his training at School of American Ballet,\u201d director Rob Ashford <\/strong>shared. \u201cQuadrophenia<\/em> seemed like a great opportunity to combine those two talents.\u201d<\/p>\n Rising star Paris Fitzpatrick<\/strong> will take on the lead role of Jimmy. <\/p>\n Quadrophenia, A Rock Ballet<\/em> will hold four performances, from November 14th to 16th, at New York City Center.
