Victoria\u2019s longtime husband, David Beckham<\/strong>\u2014perhaps the most famous footballer of all time as well as the co-owner of soccer clubs in both the US and the UK\u2014was also there to support his wife, carrying what looked like three large canvas bags filled with gifts she\u2019d received from other attendees and sitting front row at the event. While he was clearly chuffed to celebrate the mother of their four children\u2014Brooklyn,<\/strong> 26; Romeo,<\/strong> 23; Cruz,<\/strong> 20; and Harper,<\/strong> 14; none of whom were in attendance\u2014he kept his thoughts about the evening close to his chest: When asked about the doc, he replied, \u201cAsk my wife\u2014you\u2019re better off with her.\u201d<\/p>\n Victoria had plenty to say when the main event began. After opening remarks from Wintour, who appears in the docuseries looking, as she joked, like Beckham\u2019s \u201cmad old aunt,\u201d Beckham spoke with Guiducci about her rough post\u2013Spice Girls era, her reinvention as a fashion designer, and most candidly, her yearslong struggle with an eating disorder.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was a youngster, and your body\u2019s changing and you\u2019re going through puberty, it\u2019s a really difficult time,\u201d Beckham told Guiducci. \u201cI was bullied a lot mentally and physically when I was at school.\u201d While attending theater college before joining the Spice Girls, \u201cI was constantly told by the staff at the dancing school that I was fat,\u201d says Beckham. \u201cI was at an age\u2014it is an impressionable age, and it\u2019s confusing and it\u2019s hurtful.\u201d When she joined one of the most successful girl groups of all time and married the most famous footballer in the world, she found herself living under a microscope. \u201cI\u2019ve never complained, and I\u2019m not complaining about it. It is a very different time now,\u201d Beckham said. \u201cYou couldn\u2019t get away with weighing someone on television<\/a> six months after they\u2019ve had a baby, literally.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
