So close but so far! Mike Tindall<\/strong> <\/a>was honored to attend King Charles III\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> coronation with wife Zara Tindall<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 but he\u00a0has one major complaint about the ceremony.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re in the hottest spot, but it was all happening just around the corner of wall that you can\u2019t see!\u201d Princess Anne\u2019s<\/strong><\/a> son-in-law, 44, said during the May 18 episode of his \u201cThe Good, the Bad & the Rugby<\/a>\u201d podcast.<\/span><\/p>\n The former professional rugby player and Zara, 42 \u2014 who is the king\u2019s niece and daughter of The Princess Royal and ex-husband\u00a0<\/b>Mark Phillips<\/strong> \u2014 were seated one row behind Prince Harry<\/a>, Princess Beatrice<\/a><\/strong> and Princess Eugenie<\/strong> <\/a>for the May 6 event. Prince William<\/strong><\/a> and Princess Kate<\/strong><\/a>, meanwhile, were seated at the first pew with their children Princess Charlotte<\/strong><\/a>, 8, and Prince Louie<\/strong><\/a>, 5. Prince Edward<\/strong><\/a> and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh<\/strong><\/a>, were also given front-row seats. (William and Kate\u2019s eldest son, Prince George<\/strong><\/a>, 9, served as a Page of Honour in the ceremony.)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The athlete explained that while he was still seated fairly close to the monarch and Queen Camilla<\/strong><\/a>, the only way to actually see the coronation was to watch it unfold on screen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt was unbelievable to be sat where we were. Quite frustrating that you couldn\u2019t see around the corner, but you had the TV there,\u201d he revealed, noting that \u201ceverything went on sort of back and front\u201d and he was thankful to have the privilege of watching history unfold<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s one of those moments,\u201d he gushed during his podcast. \u201cI think the best bit of the day was the six and half hours of military footmen that were in the Buckingham Palace backyard<\/a> and they did three cheers for the King \u2014 it was like whoa, goose pimples.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mike and Zara, who tied the knot in December 2010 and share three children<\/a>, accompanied his in-laws throughout the majority of Coronation Weekend. The couple were first spotted attending a late-night dinner<\/span>\u00a0<\/a>with other members of the royal family on May 5.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt was quite nice to have a date night,\u201d Mike gushed during his May 12 appearance on Good Morning Britain<\/em><\/a>. \u201cYou know, when you have three children, it\u2019s not the easiest to get out and just have a drink together, so it was quite nice to have a little bit of a time where we could go out and have a drink and have a chat. It was quite nice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The pair\u2019s date night lasted into the early hours of the morning, shortly before they were set to attend the 74-year-old monarch\u2019s crowning ceremony<\/a>\u00a0at Westminster Abbey.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAdil [Ray]<\/strong>, never worry about what\u2019s tomorrow, enjoy the moment and you can deal with the next day later,\u201d he joked to the\u00a0GMB\u00a0<\/em>presenter, defending their choice to attend the soir\u00e9e before the big day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mike later faced another major snag in his weekend while attending the coronation concert on May 7. The U.K. native tried his best to\u00a0dance to performances by Katy Perry<\/a>, Lionel Richie<\/a><\/strong> and more A-list singers, but felt he came up short.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very difficult when you\u2019re on a raised platform that\u2019s under a lot of lights, I felt I didn\u2019t really put my best foot forward in terms of [my dancing]<\/a>,\u201d the former outside center quipped during Good Morning Britain.<\/em> \u201cIf you started doing interesting dance maneuvers on that platform next to the king, I\u2019m not entirely sure it would have gone down that well!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He added: \u201cAs Hitch<\/em> once said in the [Will Smith<\/strong><\/a>] movie, \u2018You\u2019ve got to stay in your safe zone\u2019 and my flag waving, I tried to do the best flag waving out there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
