In the spring and over the summer, GOP congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene<\/strong> broke with<\/a> her Republican colleagues on multiple issues, from Donald Trump<\/strong>\u2019s spending bill to support for Israel\u2019s attacks on Iran. And several months later, the conservative lawmaker is still at it, despite the fact that a large portion of the country could have once easily imagined her starring in an attack ad where she brandished a broken beer bottle and warned Democrats not to \u201cf–k with my clique.\u201d<\/p>\n Earlier this week, Greene told<\/a> The<\/em> Washington Post,<\/em> \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of weak Republican men [in the House] and they\u2019re more afraid of strong Republican women,\u201d adding that said GOP men \u201calways try to marginalize the strong Republican women that actually want to do something and actually want to achieve.\u201d She also accused her male colleagues of jealousy, saying, \u201cThey\u2019re always intimidated by stronger Republican women because we mean it and we will do it and we will make them look bad.\u201d<\/p>\n Chief among the Republican men on Greene\u2019s shit list? Her boss, it seems: House Speaker Mike Johnson,<\/strong> whom she sought to oust<\/a> last year. Greene apparently spent a chunk of last week on the receiving end of \u201cangry\u201d texts from Johnson over her push for the Senate to abolish the filibuster in order to end the government shutdown. \u201cHe told me they can\u2019t do it and it\u2019s math,\u201d Greene told the Post.<\/em> \u201cI sent him the article about them doing it yesterday,\u201d she added, referring to the Senate\u2019s move to change<\/a> its own rules in order to confirm a group of nominees with just one majority vote. \u201cI said, \u2018They just did it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Greene also appeared to suggest that she believes Johnson is sexist toward his female colleagues, claiming that there\u2019s a \u201cnight and day\u201d difference in how Johnson and his predecessor, Kevin McCarthy,<\/strong> have treated GOP congresswomen. McCarthy elevated talented women, Greene said, while Johnson has pushed them aside. She cited how, in contrast, Trump has filled his Cabinet with women, with the Post<\/em> also noting that, under Johnson, just one GOP congresswoman chairs a committee; there are five female House lawmakers who serve as the top Democrats on committees. (Johnson told<\/a> reporters on Friday that he and Greene had engaged in a \u201cgood discussion\u201d as \u201ccolleagues and friends,\u201d comments a spokesman referred to when asked by the Post<\/em> about Greene\u2019s claims.)<\/p>\n As the shutdown has dragged on, Greene has lashed out<\/a> at fellow Republicans for being unable to come up with a plan to address the expiration of Affordable Care Act subsidies, saying it\u2019s ridiculous that more of her colleagues aren\u2019t on the same page. \u201cI\u2019m actually representing what a lot of Americans fully support,\u201d she told The Hill.<\/em> She was also one of just four House Republicans to sign a discharge petition seeking to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files in their entirety, a move that prompted Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong> to declare<\/a>, \u201cYou know things in Washington are broken when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the lone voice of reason on the Republican side.\u201d House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries<\/strong> has been similarly shocked, telling MSNBC of Greene, \u201cIt does seem to many of us that she\u2019s had a surprisingly enlightened few weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n Yet while one anonymous Republican lawmaker told<\/a> The Hill<\/em> that Greene has lately \u201cbeen 180 degrees opposite of Trump\u201d in her positions, the lawmaker from Georgia does not yet appear ready to abandon the president. While describing many of her male House colleagues as \u201cweak,\u201d she insisted that Trump \u201chas a very strong, dominant style\u2014he\u2019s not weak at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
