Diane Von Furstenberg<\/strong><\/a> is speaking out for the first time after husband Barry Diller<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s coming out.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, the 83-year-old billionaire businessman \u2013 who has been married to the 78-year-old fashion designer since 2001 \u2013 publicly came out as gay<\/a> in an essay where he talked about dating men before his romance with Diane<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In a new interview, Diane<\/strong> was asked about Barry<\/strong>\u2018s sexuality.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>While speaking to Variety<\/a><\/em>, Diane<\/strong> emphasized that her dynamic with Barry<\/strong> hasn\u2019t changed after his coming out.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat\u2019s the difference?\u201d Diane <\/strong>said. \u201cI don\u2019t understand. I\u2019m sorry\u2014it\u2019s a stupid question.\u201d<\/p>\n She also acknowledged her three-year marriage with Prince Egon von F\u00fcrstenberg<\/strong>, who opened up about his own bisexuality after their separation in 1972, though their divorce wasn\u2019t finalized until 1983.<\/p>\n \u201cI married two gay men, OK?\u201d Diane<\/strong> continued. \u201cI don\u2019t know why, but to me, they\u2019re not gay, so it doesn\u2019t make any difference.\u201d<\/p>\n She went on to say that she doesn\u2019t see standing by Barry<\/strong> as \u201csupporting him\u201d through something. <\/p>\n \u201cPeople see it that way,\u201d Diane<\/strong> explained. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s not that way. I don\u2019t know. Yes, I encouraged him to do that book.\u201d<\/p>\n She also insisted that Barry<\/strong>\u2018s Who Knew<\/em> memoir, which was released in March 2025, was not meant to be defined by his coming out. <\/p>\n \u201cFor me, the book is not about that,\u201d Diane<\/strong> explained. \u201cIt\u2019s about his life. And of course, with me, he opened immediately. For 50 years, I was the only person he opened to. Then he wrote the book.\u201d<\/p>\n Diane<\/strong> went on to admit that at first, she didn\u2019t think her relationship with Barry all those decades ago would turn romantic.<\/p>\n \u201cHe turned out to be my soulmate. I didn\u2019t think of it at first,\u201d she confessed. \u201cI was interested in being a good friend; I never thought it would be anything else. Then it turned to passion.
