Hollywood is mourning the loss of a true icon. Diane Keaton<\/strong> \u2014 the beloved actress known for her unforgettable performances and timeless style \u2014 died at age 79 in California. While she built one of the most successful careers in Hollywood history, she also carved out a personal life entirely on her own terms. Diane never married, and she was always candid about why that choice worked for her.\n<\/p>\n Simply put: no. Diane never tied the knot, and she was proud of it.<\/p>\n In a 2019 interview with People<\/em>, the Oscar winner reflected on her independence. \u201cToday I was thinking about this,\u201d she said about marriage. \u201cI\u2019m 73 and I think I\u2019m the only one in my generation, and maybe before, who has been a single woman all her life.\u201d<\/p>\n Throughout her life, Diane was romantically linked to some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest names, including Al Pacino<\/strong>, Warren Beatty<\/strong> and Woody Allen<\/strong>. But despite the high-profile romances, she made it clear that walking down the aisle was never in the cards for her. \u201cI\u2019m really glad I didn\u2019t, and I\u2019m sure they\u2019re happy about it, too,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Diane\u2019s perspective on marriage took shape early. \u201cI remember one day in high school, this guy came up to me and said, \u2018One day you\u2019re going to make a good wife,\u2019\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd I thought, \u2018I don\u2019t want to be a wife. No.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Even later in life, the Oscar winner insisted she was content being single. \u201cI don\u2019t date,\u201d she told AARP The Magazine<\/em> in 2023, adding that it was \u201chighly unlikely\u201d she\u2019d pursue another relationship. \u201cI don\u2019t remember anyone calling me, going, \u2018This is So-and-So, I\u2019d like to take you out.\u2019 They don\u2019t happen. In her 50s, she adopted two children: daughter Dexter<\/strong>, now 29, and son Duke<\/strong>, 25.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t think that I was ever going to be prepared to be a mother,\u201d she told Ladies\u2019 Home Journal<\/em>. \u201cMotherhood was not an urge I couldn\u2019t resist. It was more like a thought I\u2019d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in.\u201d<\/p>\n Diane raised Dexter and Duke largely out of the public eye, giving them a childhood far from the Hollywood spotlight.
