Keaton was a muse for actor-director Woody Allen<\/strong><\/a> during their few years together as a couple, in addition to dating her Godfather<\/em> and Reds<\/em> costars Al Pacino<\/strong> and Warren Beatty<\/strong>, respectively.<\/p>\n

Keaton offered a blunt response in a 1996 ABC News<\/em><\/a> interview when asked why she \u201cnever got married.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I never got married because I didn\u2019t want to get married,\u201d Keaton replied. \u201cI didn\u2019t choose to get married and the people that I was with, it was best that we were not married. I did the right thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

An Oddball<\/h2>\n

Speaking to People<\/em><\/a> in 2019, Keaton suggested marriage may never have worked for her because she considered herself to be an outsider.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that I\u2019m strange,\u201d she quipped. \u201cI don\u2019t know anything, and I haven\u2019t learned. Getting older hasn\u2019t made me wiser.\u201d<\/p>\n

Keaton argued that there was \u201csomething missing in me\u201d and that a husband would need someone who \u201cnurtured\u201d them, which she was not capable of.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m an odd ball,\u201d she confessed. \u201cI remember one day in high school, this guy came up to me and said, \u2018One day you\u2019re going to make a good wife.\u2019 And I thought, \u2018I don\u2019t want to be a wife. No.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to YouTuber Kjersti Flaa<\/strong><\/a> in 2019, Keaton examined whether she was \u201creally being honest\u201d when she said she never wanted to \u201cbe someone\u2019s wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI did say that and sometimes I think that\u2019s not really right,\u201d she admitted. \u201cI think, in abstract, it might have been a really good idea to be married because I think it really is an important, wonderful institution for people to get together and stay together and live together.
