Two state troopers in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, were wounded in a shootout on Wednesday, October 8, that ended with the suspect being killed.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania State Police said the incident began when state troopers responded to a reported retail theft at Dicks Sporting Goods in Chambersburg around 6 p.m., according to ABC News<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n After the suspects involved in the theft fled the store, they traveled by car toward nearby Interstate 81 as they were followed by troopers. The authorities eventually used spike strips to stop the vehicle, according to the police.<\/p>\n Once the vehicle came to a full stop, two female suspects cooperated with the authorities and got out of the vehicle before they were taken into custody. However, the male suspect started shooting at troopers and two of them were struck by the gunfire, according to the police. ABC News<\/em> reported that one of the troopers is in critical condition, while the other is in serious condition.<\/p>\n State police and the Franklin County District Attorney\u2019s Office are currently investigating the shooting.<\/p>\n The wounded troopers weren\u2019t originally identified, though Pennsylvania State Police Col. Commissioner Christopher Paris<\/strong> said during a press conference that trooper Thomas Pack<\/strong> was treated and released on October 9, and is now recovering at home. Meanwhile, the other trooper, Lucas Amarose<\/strong> underwent hours of surgery and is still listed as being in critical condition, per CBS News<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n A man named Lamar Lorenzo Foy<\/strong> has been identified as the shooter, according to ABC Action News<\/a><\/em>. Meanwhile, the two women involved in the theft were Amir Loren Swift<\/strong> and Giani Jaida McGowan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n According to the outlet, they were charged with retail theft and drug offenses after they were accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of clothing from the store.<\/p>\n Following the incident, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro<\/strong> took to X<\/a> to share that he and his wife, Lori Shapiro, were praying for the injured troopers.<\/p>\n
