Angelina Jolie<\/strong><\/a> and Brad Pitt<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s divorce continues to be acrimonious. In new court documents related to the former couple\u2019s ongoing legal battle over their winery, Ch\u00e2teau Miraval<\/a>, Jolie writes that she and their children haven\u2019t been to the property since the pair\u2019s separation, citing \u201cpainful events\u201d as the reason.<\/p>\n In new court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on October 6 and obtained by People<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> Jolie says that she left her ex-husband\u00a0\u201ccontrol (and full residency) of our family homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval, without compensation, which I hoped would make him calmer in his dealings with me after a difficult and traumatic period.\u201d<\/p>\n Jolie maintains that she and her six kids with Pitt\u2014Maddox,<\/strong> 24; Pax,<\/strong> 21; Zahara,<\/strong> 20; Shiloh,<\/strong> 19; and twins\u00a0Vivienne<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Knox,<\/strong> 17\u2014have not returned to the property. \u201cTo this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property, given its connection to the painful events leading to the divorce,\u201d Jolie writes in her statement.<\/p>\n Jolie and Pitt met on the set of the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith.<\/em> They were together for 12\u00a0years and separated in 2016 after two years of marriage. In December 2024, they finalized their lengthy divorce. However, their legal battle over Ch\u00e2teau Miraval, which they co-owned, is still not over. Jolie\u00a0sold her stake\u00a0in the French winery to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group, in 2021. In February 2022, Pitt filed a\u00a0lawsuit alleging\u00a0that Jolie\u2019s sale infringed upon a prior agreement that neither would sell unless the other person approved. Jolie responded with a countersuit in September 2022, alleging that Pitt had been \u201cwaging a vindictive war against\u201d her since their divorce.<\/p>\n In the most recent court filing, Jolie goes on to detail her process of trying to find a new home for her family after leaving Pitt. \u201cPost-separation, I immediately began to look for a new house for me and our children, initially renting a home while looking for a more stable solution,\u201d she writes. \u201cBecause I wanted to ensure that Brad remained an important part of our children\u2019s lives, I looked to buy a property near his home. At the time, my savings were tied up in Miraval, and I had not asked Brad for alimony or any other financial support.\u201d<\/p>\n A source close to the matter shared: \u201cThis is a commercial dispute that has nothing to do with the divorce proceedings. This filing is one side trying to conflate the two and justify the sale of Miraval.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a focal point of our family life,\u201d\u00a0Jolie writes in the October 6 filing.\u00a0\u201cWe were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there and I brought our twin children home there from the hospital.
