The model, 30, made the declaration while reflecting on her first appearance in the Victoria\u2019s Secret Fashion Show, adding she feels \u201cso happy\u201d to return to the runway a decade later and feels proud of how far she and the fashion industry have come.<\/p>\n
She spoke in a new video shared by the lingerie brand on Friday (10.10.25), while announcing she would rejoin the Victoria\u2019s Secret Fashion Show this year. <\/p>\n
In the clip, Gigi looks back on landing her debut in 2015 after several failed auditions.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI think I tried out two or three times before I got it, so you can imagine how I felt when I got my first show.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBecoming emotional, she added about looking back on her younger self: \u201cI\u2019m just so happy for her. She just wanted it so bad\u2026 I look back at pictures of that time and the world was so hard on her, and not just me, it\u2019s hard on girls.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cAnd then you look back at pictures and you\u2019re like, \u2018I was the s***\u2019. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThat was an awesome time. I deserved to be there. I continue to come back to this show just so happy for that girl that got the first show and then also my teenage self who just watched the show.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe said the Victoria\u2019s Secret runway \u201cstill makes my heart beat really fast\u201d, adding: \u201cI feel the responsibility of doing the best I can for the huge team that\u2019s behind this show.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nGigi\u2019s first Victoria\u2019s Secret appearance in 2015 marked a turning point in her career. <\/p>\n
\nAt the time, she had spoken publicly about the scrutiny she faced over her body during fashion week and her debut with the lingerie brand.<\/p>\n
\nIn a 2015 Instagram post, she wrote: \u201cNo, I don\u2019t have the same body type as other models in shows. No, I don\u2019t think I\u2019m the best at any given shows. Yes, I want to have a unique walk but I also know I have to improve. No, I\u2019m not the first or the last model of my type in this industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cYou can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I\u2019m a hard worker that\u2019s confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nGigi added while her body type \u201cwasn\u2019t accepted in high fashion before\u201d the industry could \u201cnever stay the same\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nShe said online: \u201cYes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I\u2019m not asking for special treatment.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYour mean comments don\u2019t make me want to change my body, they don\u2019t make me want to say no to designers that ask me to be in their shows, and they definitely don\u2019t change the designers\u2019 opinions of me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nGigi also urged critics to \u201cat least be open if not part of the change\u201d, which she said was \u201cundeniably happening.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nSince her debut, Gigi has appeared in multiple editions of the Secrets show \u2013 walking again in 2016 and 2018, the latter alongside her sister Bella Hadid.<\/p>\n
\n The model also took part in the brand\u2019s revived 2024 show, opening the event in a pink belted silk one-piece, matching wings and diamond hoop earrings.<\/p>\n
