Aubrey Plaza has revealed how she’s learned to move on from tough timesv<\/p>\n
\nThe 41-year-old star – whose estranged husband Jeff Baena took his own life in January this year aged 47 – has reflected on the advice she received from her grandma about dealing with tough times in life, and revealed the inspiration behind her new children’s book Luna And The Witch Throw A Halloween Party.<\/p>\n
\nWithout mentioning her late husband by name, Aubrey told the Today show: “She taught me from a very young age that life is a party and no matter what happens, we have to have fun and move forward, and so I think this book was inspired by that.<\/p>\n
\n“I think on both sides of my family, I have a lot of witchy women that raised me, so this is an homage to all the women in my life.”<\/p>\n
\nAubrey – who had separate from Baena in September 2024 – previously admitted every day has been a “struggle” since her ex’s death.<\/p>\n
\nHis body was discovered at his home in Los Angeles, California by his dog walker.<\/p>\n
\nAsked how she is doing by her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler on her Good Hang podcast, she said: \u201cRight in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you. Overall, I\u2019m here and I\u2019m functioning.<\/p>\n
\n“I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I\u2019m okay, but it\u2019s like a daily struggle, obviously.”<\/p>\n
\nShe compared her grief to The Gorge, insisting it felt like a “giant ocean of awfulness”.<\/p>\n
\nShe continued: \u201cThis is a really dumb analogy and it was kind of a joke at a certain point, but I actually mean it.<\/p>\n
\n“Did you see that movie The Gorge? It\u2019s like [an] alien movie or something with Miles Teller. In the movie, there\u2019s like a cliff on one side and there\u2019s a cliff on the other side, then there\u2019s gorge in between and it\u2019s filled with all these like monster people that are trying to get them.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI swear when I watched it, I was like that feels like what my grief is like \u2026 or what grief could be like.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAt all times there\u2019s like a giant ocean of awfulness, that\u2019s like right there and I can see it. Sometimes I just want to dive into it, and just like be in it. Then sometimes I just look at it, and sometimes I try to get away from it. But, it\u2019s always there.\u201d<\/p>\n
