The Grammy winner is still at the center of a political storm following his selection as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer, a move that has been met with both celebration and controversy.<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump<\/strong> blasted the decision<\/a> in a Newsmax<\/em> interview.<\/p>\n\u201cI never heard of him,\u201d he said on Monday, October 6. \u201cI don\u2019t know who he is, I don\u2019t know why they\u2019re doing it, it\u2019s crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment, I think it\u2019s absolutely ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n<\/blockquote>\nHomeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem<\/strong> stirred more backlash when she told<\/a> conservative commentator Benny Johnson<\/strong> on Friday, October 3, that ICE \u201cwill be all over the place\u201d at the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n\u201cI have the responsibility for making sure everybody who goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that\u2019s what America\u2019s about,\u201d Noem said. \u201cSo yeah, we\u2019ll be all over that place. We\u2019re going to enforce the law.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added, \u201cSo, I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they\u2019re law-abiding Americans who love this country.\u201d<\/p>\n
Noem also took aim at the NFL as a whole, claiming that \u201cthey suck.\u201d<\/p>\n
