It\u2019s been nearly four decades since Full House<\/em> premiered on ABC, but the sitcom\u2019s popularity has inexplicably endured throughout the years. Now, John Stamos<\/strong>, who played \u201cUncle\u201d Jesse Katsopolis, has a 7-year-old son named Billy who watches the show.<\/p>\n However, he does so in order to \u201cmock\u201d his famous dad.<\/p>\n E! News<\/a> caught up with Stamos at the Adopt the Arts and Let Music Fill My World charity event on Tuesday, Sept. 30, where he told correspondent Will Marfuggi<\/strong> how his son weaponizes the series against him.<\/p>\n \u201cHe watches Full House<\/em>, but he watches it to mock me. Because I\u2019ll be like, \u2018Go put your Legos away,’\u201d Stamos explained, adding that his son will sarcastically respond, \u201cYou got it, dude.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, he\u2019s pulling catchphrases off of me,\u201d he continued. When asked if his son ever works in a \u201cHave mercy,\u201d Uncle Jesse\u2019s ubiquitous catchphrase, Stamos admitted, \u201cYeah, but mocking. Not like it\u2019s cool or anything.\u201d<\/p>\n However, when Billy isn\u2019t taunting his dad over his most famous role to date, he\u2019s using it as clout with girls, as Stamos further explained.<\/p>\n \u201cHe went to a new school, he said, \u2018Dad, we had to write down all our things and they [asked] what\u2019s your favorite TV show,’\u201d the 62-year-old recalled. \u201cAnd he said, \u2018The girl next to me put Fuller House<\/em>,\u2019 and I said, \u2018You know, that\u2019s my dad, my dad\u2019s on that show. And he plays Uncle Jesse.’\u201d<\/p>\n Stamos recreated the apparent triple gasp the girl reacted with, having learned the news. \u201cSo he\u2019s using it with the girls, which is fine,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The role of Uncle Jesse has been both a blessing and a curse for Stamos, though he did return for a recurring role in the 2016 Netflix revival of the series. However, it took some time for him to make peace with the character.<\/p>\n In an Aug. 31 appearance<\/a> on The Howard Stern Show<\/em>,\u00a0Stamos recounted the unwanted attention he received during a 1998 Broadway production of Cabaret<\/em>. \u201cLet\u2019s go see Uncle Jesse,\u201d he said, mocking fans. \u201cAnd people were walking out \u2026 I said, \u2018What am I doing wrong?’\u201d<\/p>\n Stamos said that he thinks only when he \u201cjust let go of it all, like just let it all go\u201d was he finally able to move past the role. He recalled being onstage with James Earl Jones<\/strong> (the two starred together in a 2012 Broadway revival of The Best Man<\/em><\/a>) and being mortified at fans yelling for Uncle Jesse. That is, until another fan approached Jones and asked him to say the line from Star Wars<\/em>, \u201cLuke, I am your father.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnd we both looked at each other, and I said, \u2018F\u2013k it, that\u2019s it,’\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m never worrying about Uncle Jesse and all that stuff again.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
