While her relationship<\/a> with Matthew Lawrence<\/strong><\/a> has been over for years, Cheryl Burke<\/strong><\/a> is admitting she still sometimes grieves the failed marriage.<\/p>\n

The Dancing with the Stars<\/em> alum, 41, touched on her divorce during the Thursday, October 2 episode of the \u201cI Do, Part 2\u201d podcast.<\/a><\/p>\n

While discussing celebrity divorces alongside Jen Fessler<\/strong>, Burke admitted her own divorce<\/a> \u201ctested\u201d her.<\/p>\n

However, she pointed out that her marriage breakdown wasn\u2019t the only big change she went through that year \u2013 she also exited DWTS<\/em> <\/a>after working as a pro dancer on the show for 26 seasons. In addition, she moved out of her home that she had lived in for over a decade.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tUp for the challenge. Cheryl Burke is getting candid about her divorce from Matthew Lawrence, admitting it has \u201c100 percent\u201d tested her sobriety \u2014 but not for the reasons you might think. \u201cIt\u2019s not like I miss the act of drinking. I don\u2019t. I never liked the taste of it. It was just for the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t just the divorce with my ex. It was the divorce with Dancing with the Stars<\/em> all in one year, and then leaving my home I lived in for sixteen years and I moved to where I am today,\u201d Burke explained. \u201cSo it\u2019s like, it\u2019s just, it was all happening in one year, and those are three big life changes. They say, if you hit five in one year, you\u2019re most likely going to check into the nearest mental institution.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Burke insisted that she has no regrets about how her divorce went down with Lawrence, 45, she confessed she still feels grief over it occasionally.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo say that I haven\u2019t or still sometimes grieve would be a lie too. I think it can be both, you know?\u201d she said. \u201cI know that I needed to cut off basically both divorces in order for me to be able to see what I see in the mirror and actually like the person I see.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to say while the changes appeared to happen really quickly, they were a long time coming.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that though it happened quickly, this was not just quick decisions. This was stuff lingering inside of me for many, many years,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

During the podcast episode, Burke confirmed she and the Mrs Doubtfire<\/em> actor had signed a prenup before tying the knot in 2019 \u2013 a topic she\u2019s previously discussed.<\/p>\n

Burke shared on the same podcast in October 2024 that she asked Lawrence for a prenup<\/a> before tying the knot.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an ultimatum. It was a full-on ultimatum,\u201d she said. \u201cIt consisted of, like, 70 to 85 pages of lots of words and lots of fine detail and fine print. But something that my attorney suggested was to make sure I hire him an attorney as well. So that was definitely part of the deal.\u201d<\/p>\n
