The film follows Osbourne, who died in July at age 76, as he recovers from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/ozzy-osbourne-health-struggles-prior-to-his-death-a-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a series of surgeries<\/a> and prepares for his final concert ever in his hometown of Birmingham, England.<\/p>\n<p>While the movie doesn\u2019t shy away from capturing Osbourne\u2019s darker moments, the former Black Sabbath frontman was still cracking jokes even as he spoke about how sad he was that he could no longer take the stage as he once did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the thing about getting older,\u201d he quips at one point. \u201cI used to take pills for fun. His family, however, noticed that the surgery didn\u2019t seem to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/kelly-osbournes-quotes-on-ozzy-osbournes-parkinsons-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">improve his quality of life<\/a> and instead made it worse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI watched my dad go from being able to sit up to \u2014 I\u2019m sorry to say this, but I can\u2019t think of anything else \u2014 having posture like f***ing Gollum,\u201d Ozzy\u2019s daughter <strong>Kelly Osbourne<\/strong> says.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly\u2019s sister <strong>Aimee Osbourne<\/strong> adds, \u201cHe was in great discomfort and really grieving, and I think just in a lot of shock. Also traumatized to fall like that and then go through that and then not be able to bounce back like he had in the past and then having to cancel the tour \u2014 that was really, I think, his biggest heartbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ozzy\u2019s wife, <strong>Sharon Osbourne<\/strong>, notes that her husband, who\u2019d gotten sober again before his death, was in more pain that she\u2019d even seen him experience. \u201cThe pain just never subsided,\u201d she recalls. \u201cIt was unbearable constantly. And I know Ozzy\u2019s a drama queen, he\u2019ll do anything for a pain pill, but it was for real. You can look in someone\u2019s eyes and know.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Music Improved Ozzy\u2019s Mood \u2014 To a Point<\/h2>\n<p>After the 2019 surgery, Kelly encouraged her dad to get back in the studio, where he began working on what became his 12th solo album, <em>Ordinary Man<\/em>. Ozzy says recording again got him \u201cout of the blues,\u201d while his son<strong> Jack Osbourne<\/strong> notes that Ozzy\u2019s music from that period reflects the pain he was feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do think that <em>Ordinary Man<\/em> is less an Ozzy Osbourne album and more a John Osbourne album,\u201d Jack explains, referring to his dad\u2019s legal name. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of themes in it of processing his own life and mortality and what he\u2019s facing, and it was less madman, less biting heads off bats. It wasn\u2019t the madman, it was just kind of where he was in that time.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Ozzy Considered Suicide After His 2021 Surgery<\/h2>\n<p>Ozzy had another surgery in 2021 to correct the 2019 one, which the second surgery said was \u201coverly aggressive.\u201d While it was supposed to improve his pain, Ozzy was still forced to postpone and ultimately cancel his planned farewell tour, which left him in a deep depression \u2014 the point <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/news\/ozzy-osbourne-considered-suicide-in-2021-after-botched-neck-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he considered suicide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe thought of not doing any gigs anymore, I went really into depression,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m on antidepressants now, actually. Because I was getting ready to off myself at some point. But then I\u2019ll go there in my head and I go, \u2018What are you f***ing talking about?\u2019 Because knowing me, I\u2019d half-do it and I\u2019d be half-dead. \u2026 I mean, I wouldn\u2019t die, you know? That\u2019s my luck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly noticed her dad\u2019s despair as well, saying, \u201cHe wouldn\u2019t even draw. He wouldn\u2019t go shoot his gun. He wouldn\u2019t do anything. He was just miserable. The England native got his start in 1967 when he joined bassist Geezer Butler\u2019s first band, Rare Breed, as a vocalist. Although the group didn\u2019t last long, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2>What Ozzy Really Thought About His Black Sabbath Firing<\/h2>\n<p>While Ozzy\u2019s Black Sabbath bandmates fired him in 1979 and replaced him with <strong>Ronnie James Dio<\/strong>, he reunited with them many times, including at this final concert. In the film, however, his family says he was still upset about the incident, with Sharon claiming she would catch him watching old Dio interviews in between World War II and Vietnam War documentaries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dad will never get over being fired from Black Sabbath. He\u2019ll never get over that. Ever, ever, ever, ever,\u201d Kelly tells the camera. \u201cIt hurt him more than anything people can put into words. It destroyed him. Those were his brothers. Those were his extended family and all he knew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jack agrees, adding, \u201cIt was a traumatic event for him. His dad died and then he gets booted out of a band, and he thinks, \u2018Well, I haven\u2019t really got much to live for now, and now I have to, like, piece this all back together.\u2019 And I think it definitely affected the way he operates.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Ozzy Suffered From Social Anxiety<\/h2>\n<p>Ozzy will go down in history as one of the most legendary rock stars of all time, but in the film, he confesses that there are certain aspects of fame he could have lived without. \u201cIf something\u2019s in my head, it will torture me,\u201d he explains. \u201cIf I\u2019ve got a commitment or I\u2019ve gotta make a speech, I f***ing hate making speeches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kelly says that her dad could handle performing in front of thousands but would sometimes have difficulty in more low-key situations. \u201cFor somebody who gets on stage and performs in front of the size of the crowds that he does, you would think that he can walk into any room and be confident and fine. That\u2019s not the case,\u201d she tells the camera. \u201cHe is somebody that suffers from the worst social anxiety I\u2019ve ever seen.
