I\u2019m nobody on set and she came and tapped me on the shoulder, gave me a big hug and was like, \u2018We\u2019re so grateful to have you here. Somebody who knows what they\u2019re doing on the MMA side of this.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nHe continued about Blunt, \u201cEvery time we\u2019re on set, she\u2019s asking questions. But she was really getting into the character and what it would be like in 1999 in an MMA community. Before one scene in the movie, I walked into a locker room and he\u2019s sitting there. You know, everybody has their own way of preparing and getting into the role before a scene. He\u2019s in the locker room, gloved up, about to walk out. I walk in and he\u2019s just dead behind the eyes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\nHe continued, \u201cHe\u2019s in his own head. Thousand-yard stare. I\u2019m like, \u2018This feels real. This man feels like he\u2019s about to go fight. I got the chills because I\u2019ve been there 43 different times.
