Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 request for an acquittal or a new trial was denied on Tuesday, September 30, just days before his scheduled sentencing.<\/p>\n

Judge Arun Subramanian<\/strong> wrote in a judgment obtained by People<\/em><\/a> and Deadline<\/a> that the \u201cgovernment proved its case many times over\u201d in its federal case against the star. \u201cThat by itself might be enough to dispose of Combs\u2019s challenge,\u201d the judge determined.<\/p>\n

Subramanian\u2019s decision comes after a Thursday, September 25, hearing in New York to consider the rapper\u2019s latest motion.<\/p>\n

Diddy\u2019s attorneys filed a motion in July<\/a> asking that the disgraced music mogul, 55, either be acquitted or granted a new trial. Earlier that month, the Grammy winner was found guilty on two counts<\/a> of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted on charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Diddy pleaded not guilty to all charges following his September 2024 arrest.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJudge Arun Subramanian has made a ruling regarding Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs\u2019 immediate future behind bars. On Wednesday, July 2, Subramanian announced that the disgraced music mogul should remain in custody while awaiting sentencing, NBC News reported. Before the ruling was made, both the prosecutors and defense attorneys each stated their case for why Diddy should [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The July 2 verdict came after a highly publicized trial that lasted nearly two months. Diddy\u2019s ex-girlfriend Cassie<\/strong>, whom he dated off and on from 2007 to 2018, served as a witness for the prosecution, testifying about alleged physical and sexual abuse during their relationship. (Diddy denied all of her allegations.)<\/p>\n

In November 2023, Cassie, 39, filed a lawsuit against Diddy accusing him of abuse. He denied her claims at the time, and the duo settled out of court one day later. Many of those claims were discussed during Diddy\u2019s federal trial, and in May, Cassie testified that she settled the original case for $20 million.<\/p>\n

Diddy has asked for bail multiple times since his arrest last year, but Subramanian has denied every request. The latest denial<\/a> came in August after Diddy\u2019s attorneys argued that \u201cexceptional circumstances\u201d<\/a> warranted his release. Subramanian, however, said the defense failed to prove such circumstances existed and ruled that Diddy would stay in jail at Brooklyn\u2019s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he has been since his arrest.<\/p>\n

When Diddy\u2019s lawyers asked for his release after the verdict was read, Cassie\u2019s attorney asked the judge<\/a> to deny his bail request.<\/p>\n
