Donald Trump<\/a> administration against several late night chat show hosts following the suspension and reinstating of Jimmy Kimmel.<\/p>\nAppearing on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street, Fallon said: \u201cOur show has never really been that political, you know.<\/p>\n
“We hit both sides equally, and we try to make everybody laugh, and that\u2019s really the way our show works.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur monologues are kind of the same that we\u2019ve been doing since Johnny Carson was hosting The Tonight Show. So really, I just keep my head down and make sure the jokes are funny.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nFallon pointed out he has a “smart” team of writers, and their goal is to create something for everyone.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI have great writers\u2026 clever, smart writers. And we\u2019re just trying to make the best show we possibly can and entertain everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAfter Kimmel, 57, was pulled from ABC following his comments about the murder of Charlie Kirk, President Trump took shots at Fallon.<\/p>\n
\nHe posted on Truth Social at the time: “Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.<\/p>\n
\n“Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that\u2019s possible.<\/p>\n
\n“That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT (sic)”<\/p>\n
\nIn his opening monologue after Kimmel’s initial suspension, Fallon joked his dad messaged saying that he was “sorry they cancelled your show”.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “To be honest with you all, I don\u2019t know what is going on. And no one does.<\/p>\n
\n“But I do know Jimmy Kimmel and he is a decent, funny and loving guy, and I hope he comes back.”<\/p>\n
\nAnd when Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned to air, Fallon made a brief reference to the news while focusing on their shared first names.<\/p>\n
\nHe told his viewers: “If you\u2019re tuning in to see what I\u2019ll say about my suspension the last couple days, again, you\u2019re watching the wrong Jimmy\u2026 Dad. The other Jimmy, Dad!”<\/p>\n
