New chilling details about the arrest of former University of Kentucky competitive cheerleader Laken Snelling<\/strong><\/a> have emerged.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling, 21, told medical staff she guessed her baby was still alive when she gave birth and allegedly hid the infant\u2019s body in a closet last month, according to court records obtained by WKYT-TV<\/a> on Friday, September 26.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After giving birth, the cheerleader said she passed out and fell on top of the baby.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When she woke up, Snelling found the infant \u201cblue and purple,\u201d according to the records.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe phone records of former University of Kentucky competitive cheerleader Laken Snelling give a glimpse into her mindset before she was arrested for hiding the body of her infant in a closet. According to records obtained from the Fayette County District Court by WKYT-TV on Friday, September 26, Snelling, 21, searched \u201cconcealed or hidden pregnancy\u201d [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At that time, Snelling believed the baby was dead. She wrapped up the infant and laid next to the body on the floor, which is described as giving her comfort.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling\u2019s baby was later found \u201cwrapped in a towel inside of a black trash bag,\u201d according to an arrest citation.<\/span><\/p>\n

After allegedly concealing the baby in the closet, the records state that Snelling made her way to the University of Kentucky\u2019s campus but did not go to class.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling also found a University of Kentucky student clinic but did not go inside.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The cheerleader was eventually detained and taken to Lexington police headquarters before being transported to a local hospital for evaluation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling told hospital staff that the baby displayed some fetal movement, including a \u201cwhimper,\u201d after it was born.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A third party was responsible for calling authorities on August 27, reporting that an infant was found \u201ccold to the touch\u201d in the closet of a Lexington home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling was arrested on August 30<\/a> and charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence and concealing the birth of an infant.<\/span><\/p>\n

When she was questioned by police, Snelling \u201cadmitted to giving birth\u201d and to \u201cconcealing the birth by cleaning any evidence, placing all cleaning items used inside of a black trash bag, including the infant, who was wrapped in a towel.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Snelling pleaded not guilty to all charges during a September 2 court appearance. She was released on $100,000 bond and has been living on house arrest with her parents in Tennessee.<\/span><\/p>\n

The former athlete was back in a Lexington courtroom on Friday<\/a>, where she waived her right to a preliminary trial. The case will now proceed to a grand jury.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The infant\u2019s cause of death was ruled inconclusive<\/a> and \u201cextensive microscopic analyses are essential to determine the cause and manner of death,\u201d according to a report from the Fayette County Coroner\u2019s Office obtained by Us Weekly <\/i>on September 4.<\/span><\/p>\n
