{"id":195989,"date":"2025-09-25T13:18:05","date_gmt":"2025-09-25T13:18:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/25\/australian-man-71-charged-with-inappropriately-touching-sleeping-woman-on-flight-life-style-life-style\/"},"modified":"2025-09-25T13:18:05","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T13:18:05","slug":"australian-man-71-charged-with-inappropriately-touching-sleeping-woman-on-flight-life-style-life-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/25\/australian-man-71-charged-with-inappropriately-touching-sleeping-woman-on-flight-life-style-life-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Australian Man, 71, Charged With &#8216;Inappropriately&#8217; Touching Sleeping Woman on Flight &#8211; Life &#038; Style | Life &#038; Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A 71-year-old man was charged with \u201cinappropriately\u201d touching a sleeping woman on a flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The case went to Broadmeadows Magistrates\u2019 Court in Victoria on Wednesday, September 24, after the incident allegedly took place two days earlier, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afp.gov.au\/news-centre\/media-release\/melbourne-man-charged-over-alleged-indecent-assault-flight-los-angeles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media release<\/a> from the Australian Federal Police (AFP).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe woman reported to airline crew during the flight that a man had allegedly touched her inappropriately and reached inside her clothes while she tried to sleep during a flight on 22 September, 2025,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, \u201cCrew members moved the woman to a different seat for the remainder of the flight and alerted the AFP, who met the flight when it landed and interviewed the man, 71, and witnesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe AFP arrested the man and charged him with one count of act of indecency without consent, contrary to section 60 of the Crimes Act 1900 (ACT),\u201d police said in the release. \u201cThe maximum penalty for this [offense] is seven years\u2019 imprisonment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The suspect appeared remotely in court on September 24 via video link, and <em>The Sydney Morning Herald<\/em> reported that he was not required to speak during the proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>In light of the incident, AFP Detective Superintendent <strong>Stephen Cook<\/strong> said that police will take any allegation of inappropriate or criminal behavior seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery [traveler] on an aircraft should be able to feel safe from harm and should be confident that the AFP always takes action when we receive reports of alleged crime,\u201d Cook said, according to the police release. \u201cAs passenger numbers rise for the busy school holiday period, I\u2019d also like to remind passengers that being in the air does not alleviate the consequences of alleged illegal [behavior].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The case has been postponed until November 20 in order to allow the prosecution more time to compile evidence, according to <em>The Sydney Morning Herald<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/posts\/australian-man-71-charged-with-inappropriately-touching-sleeping-woman-on-flight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 71-year-old man was charged with \u201cinappropriately\u201d touching a sleeping woman on a flight from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia.
