Justin Hartley<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s hit series Tracker<\/em><\/a> is losing half of its series regulars in season 3 \u2014 but how will Velma and Bobby be written out and could they return?<\/p>\n

Showrunner Elwood Reid<\/strong> addressed the cast changes, telling TV Insider<\/em><\/a> on Friday, September 26, \u201cThere\u2019s a possibility [they could return], but right now, in this first block, no.\u201d<\/p>\n

The third season, which returns October 19, will address Colter\u2019s (Justin Hartley<\/strong>) handler Velma (Abby McEnany<\/strong>) and hacker Bobby (Eric Graise<\/strong>) no longer being around<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, Velma is going off to be with Teddi [Robin Weigert<\/strong>, who exited after season 1], who we\u2019ve set up that there were some problems. That\u2019s set up in the first episode,\u201d Reid teased. \u201cAnd Bobby has taken an interesting job offer, which we\u2019ll hear about in the first episode.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJustin Hartley\u2019s Tracker is easily CBS\u2019 biggest hit show \u2014 so why has it gone through three cast shakeups in just two seasons? When Tracker premiered in 2024, it introduced Us to survivalist Colter Shaw (Hartley) as he travels the country to help find missing people, track down information on criminal cases and more. The [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reid explained that one of the goals is \u201ctrying to build out the world of Reenie\u2019s [Fiona Rene<\/strong>] office a little bit better.\u201d He also confirmed their plan of \u201cbringing Randy [Chris Lee], who was a really strong character from last year, bringing him to Denver to help out.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Reid, the events from season 2 will drive Reenie\u2019s story.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201c[She is] in a pretty dark place \u2014 her boyfriend had been shot, her company had been kind of f***** over, she\u2019d had this breach of security,\u201d he added. \u201c[Randy is coming in to give her] a digital health check detox. That blooms into a deeper relationship where he may be working out of her office a little bit helping.\u201d<\/p>\n

Season 3 is set to explore<\/a> the remaining members of Colter\u2019s team more, with Reid adding, \u201cThat\u2019s going to become a story line. Because I have these amazing actors, I think the show loses if they\u2019re just all about the case. You want to follow them home a little bit. I know we have Reenie as this sort of boss lawyer all the time, but I don\u2019t know if she\u2019s always that.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI think there\u2019s this other side to her, and I particularly think that given with what happened to her last year, it\u2019s only realistic that that would have some lasting effects on her. So you\u2019ll start to see us trying to build out her character a little bit more as not just someone who waits by the phone for Colter to call, because that\u2019s not what these people are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
