Nicole Kidman<\/a> in the erotic drama film Babygirl in 2024, and Harris has witnessed a dramatic change in the behaviour of some of his fans.<\/p>\nDuring an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Harris explained: “I think it\u2019s [become] OK to do this to male actors, weirdly, [and] that\u2019s the problem.<\/p>\n
“I think it becomes acceptable to do that to younger male actors, whereas if we\u2019re in a conversation [like we are] now, I get a lot of women [chiming in to] say things to me that are deeply inappropriate.”<\/p>\n
Harris often heard “completely unacceptable” remarks during the Babygirl press tour. The actor now admits that he struggled to cope with the comments.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “You\u2019re expected to just laugh it off, and I think that\u2019s why I struggled with that experience.<\/p>\n
\n“People could say, \u2018Well, you did a film that you knew was going to be somewhat erotic.\u2019 It\u2019s, like, yeah, but the film that we made and the approach that Halina [Reijn, the director] spoke about, for me, was something way more unique. It wasn\u2019t a reductive thing in my mind.<\/p>\n
\n“I guess you can\u2019t control the perception of it, and the way that people want to talk about it and the narrative. It\u2019s a strange thing, and I feel like I\u2019m constantly rejecting that a little bit.”<\/p>\n
\nEarlier this year, Harris explained that he isn’t very comfortable with “being desired”.<\/p>\n
\nAsked if he’s comfortable with “rampant objectification”, Harris told The Independent: “Not very … That was a very quick answer. I mean, I\u2019ll take it with the right filmmaker. <\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m not really afraid of showing my body and stuff. I was raised to, you know, love yourself, love your body, be proud of it.”<\/p>\n
\nDespite this, Harris felt self-conscious about his appearance during his younger years.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor shared: “I was a really chubby boy, right? And I didn\u2019t shed that until I was in my late teens. So I\u2019ve always got that in my mind, and I don\u2019t think that ever leaves you.”<\/p>\n
