Gloria Estefan reveals secret to long marriage to Emilio<\/p>\n
The 68-year-old music legend has been married to her husband Emilio, 72, for 47 years, and she admitted the past five decades have “gone very quickly”.<\/p>\n
Asked about the “key to longevity”, she told The Jennifer Hudson Show: “[He] makes me laugh every day, sometimes not even meaning to. He\u2019s a very funny dude.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also described her husband as “very absent-minded and a little crazy”.<\/p>\n
Gloria took a moment to reflect on his proposal on February 12, 1978, when her now-husband “had the ring burning a hole in his pocket”, and “couldn’t wait” until Valentine’s Day.<\/p>\n
\nShe awoke from a nap with Emilio and his mother both in the room, and he presented her with the engagement ring.<\/p>\n
\nGloria quipped: \u201cI\u2019m thinking, do I kiss you? Do I kiss your mother?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nEarlier this month, the couple marked their 47th wedding anniversary and revealed a surprise he planned for her.<\/p>\n
\nOn September 2, Gloria shared a photo of a handwritten note on a table, with a small gold heart, while a framed picture of them kissing could be seen in the background.<\/p>\n
\nThe letter read: “Love you! To forever. 47 more to come. Love, baby.”<\/p>\n
\nShe captioned the post: “One of the many reasons I love you so much! Happy 47th Anniversary, mi morito lindo! I love you forever!”<\/p>\n
\nThe day before, Emilio shared a heartfelt tribute to Gloria on her 68th birthday.<\/p>\n
\nHe wrote: “After 47 years by your side, I continue to give thanks for the incredible family we have built and for having found in you the greatest gift of my life. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt has been a blessing to share this journey with you, a woman I deeply admire.<\/p>\n
\n“May God continue to bless us with health to enjoy our family and our career together. Happy birthday and happy early anniversary!”<\/p>\n
