Oracle is shaking up its\u00a0executive\u00a0suite as\u00a0it sets its sights set on AI infrastructure dominance.\u00a0The company announced Monday that it is promoting\u00a0Clay Magouyrk and Mike Sicilia\u00a0to\u00a0co-CEO\u00a0roles<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Magouyrk\u00a0joined Oracle in 2014 from Amazon Web Services. He\u00a0was a founding member of\u00a0Oracle\u2019s cloud engineering team and has served as the president of Oracle\u2019s cloud infrastructure business unit\u00a0for more than a decade.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Sicilia\u00a0has served as the president of Oracle\u2019s industries division since\u00a0June. He held\u00a0several\u00a0different roles\u00a0at the company since he\u00a0joined through\u00a0Oracle\u2019s acquisition of project portfolio management\u00a0company\u00a0Primavera Systems in 2008.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Safra Catz, who has\u00a0been Oracle\u2019s CEO since\u00a02014,\u00a0is moving into a\u00a0new role as the executive vice chair of Oracle\u2019s board of directors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cToday, Oracle is recognized as the cloud of choice for both AI training and inferencing.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0very proud\u00a0of that,\u201d Catz said in a statement. \u201cOracle\u2019s technology and business have never been stronger. At this time of strength is the right moment to pass the CEO role to the next generation of capable executives.\u201d\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n While traditionally known as a cloud infrastructure provider, Oracle has recently started to cement its place in the AI infrastructure race as well.\u00a0Earlier this year, the company announced its participation in the\u00a0$500 billion\u00a0Stargate Project,<\/a>\u00a0alongside OpenAI and SoftBank,\u00a0to build data centers and AI infrastructure in the U.S.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Earlier this month, it was reported that the company inked a\u00a0landmark\u00a0deal with OpenAI<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0supply the\u00a0AI company with\u00a0$300 billion\u00a0worth of\u00a0compute. On Friday,\u00a0Reuters reported that the company was signing a smaller \u2014\u00a0but still sizable \u2014\u00a0$20 billion\u00a0compute\u00a0deal<\/a>\u00a0with Meta.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Techcrunch event<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSan Francisco<\/span> TechCrunch reached out to Oracle for more information on the transition.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
