Stellantis, the car-making giant behind Chrysler, Fiat, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and other brands<\/a>, has confirmed a data breach involving customers\u2019 personal information.\u00a0<\/p>\n In a statement<\/a> published Sunday, Stellantis said it experienced a breach of a \u201cthird-party service provider\u2019s platform that supports our North American customer service operations.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n The statement said \u201ccontact information\u201d was taken, but Stellantis spokesperson Kaileen Connelly declined to answer TechCrunch\u2019s questions about what specific types of customer data were taken in the breach. Stellantis\u2019 spokesperson also declined to say how many customers it was notifying that their information was taken.<\/p>\n Bleeping Computer reports<\/a> that Stellantis\u2019 data breach is linked to a hack of its Salesforce database, citing the ShinyHunters hackers who took credit for the breach. \u00a0<\/p>\n The hackers allegedly stole 18 million customer records from the database. \u00a0<\/p>\n Stellantis is the latest in a list of hundreds of companies, including Cloudflare, Google, and Proofpoint, among others,\u00a0who had data stolen in a recent breach affecting Salesloft Drift<\/a>, and a longer list of companies whose data was stolen from their Salesforce instances.<\/p>\n
