A small group of Kirk critics gathered outside the stadium, some with placards bearing some of the pundit’s more controversial quotes. Most appeared to be congregants of Westboro Baptist Church<\/a>, a far-right religious group that issued a press release<\/a> attacking Kirk a week ago. \u201cThe Christ that [Kirk] preached was not the Christ of the Bible,\u201d the group said in a statement. \u201cHe was no different than all other false Christians as he lied and mistakenly taught free will and that God loves everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n According to one attendee, opposition to Kirk’s message is welcome. \u201cI love the protesters. That\u2019s what America\u2019s about. I was there on January 6th<\/sup>,\u201d said Kirk mourner and Vietnam veteran \u201cNew York Myke\u201d Shelby<\/strong>, referring to the pro-Trump protests of Jan. 6, 2021. \u201cI went there because I didn\u2019t think Joe Biden<\/strong> could get 81 million votes. I still don\u2019t believe it. \u2026 That\u2019s what Charlie Kirk was about.\u201d<\/p>\n Others said that those who spoke against Kirk\u2014such as suspended<\/a> talk show host Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong><\/a>\u2014deserved to be muffled. \u201cJust a few years ago they were banning Trump on Twitter and Facebook and those kinds of things,” said Tasha Pantau<\/strong>, who with her daughter, Sheridan<\/strong> wore a red \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d hat. \u201cSo they didn\u2019t mind when it happened to Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n
