The 66-year-old rapper, born William Jonathan Drayton Jr., has made the declaration months after admitting to a relapse in April.<\/p>\n
He told People magazine about his continuing sobriety journey: \u201cRight now it\u2019s going very well. I\u2019m back on point. I\u2019m back on track, you know what I\u2019m saying? <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd this is the way that I plan on staying for the rest of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also offered advice to others struggling with addiction. <\/p>\n
\nFlavor added: \u201cIf you take a fall, don\u2019t lay there and stay stuck. You got to get up off of that fall and you have to K-I-M \u2014 keep it moving. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cOperation no choice is now in progress. Either you keep it moving, or you stay stuck. And the name of the game is to keep it moving.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn April, Flavor told fans on Instagram he had \u201cbriefly relapsed\u201d, adding he wanted to make the admission publicly to \u201chold myself accountable\u201d. <\/p>\n
\nIn a message to his followers he wrote: \u201cI remain authentic to who I am and a large part of the past 4.5 years for me has been my sobriety journey. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI think I\u2019ve been an inspiration to many that if I could get sober, anyone can do it. But just when you think it\u2019s easy, it ain\u2019t. I briefly relapsed. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI say this to admit my mistake and publicly hold myself accountable. I am a human being who makes mistakes and it doesn\u2019t make me a bad person. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI hope those who are around me support my choice to be sober.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI went back to Day 1, again. Time didn\u2019t stop, my journey continues.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn a 2023 interview on the Off the Record with DJ Akademiks podcast, Flavor said he had once spent \u201c$2,400 to $2,600 a day \u2026 for six years straight\u201d on drugs. <\/p>\n
\nHe admitted much of his drug use was kept \u201chidden\u201d, though he said he maintained his outward appearance \u201cvery well\u201d despite addiction.<\/p>\n
\nFlavor began his sobriety journey in 2020. <\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on the same podcast, he added: \u201cI guess God wanted me to live. And he knows that I\u2019m a mouthpiece to the world. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cSo, I feel that God let me live through that, so that way, I could teach people about the mistakes that I made. And hopefully, they won\u2019t make them later on in life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn October 2024, to mark World Mental Health Day and the four-year anniversary of his sobriety, Flavor said: \u201cMy mental health is an important part of my sobriety journey.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nHe marked the occasion by covering the cost of therapy app subscriptions for fans.<\/p>\n
