Erika Kirk<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about the tragic shooting death of her husband Charlie Kirk<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n The 36-year-old widow of the conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder shared about the moments she learned her husband was shot at an event in Utah, and detailed when she found out he passed from the injuries. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Erika<\/strong> recalled staying in the Phoenix, Ariz., area that day, as her mom was set to undergo medical treatment. <\/p>\n Per an interview with The New York Times<\/a><\/em>, the widow was in her mother\u2019s hospital room at 11:23am when she got a call from Charlie<\/strong>\u2018s assistant Michael McCoy<\/strong> who screamed at her, \u201cHe\u2019s been shot!\u201d <\/p>\n Charlie<\/strong>\u2018s chartered plane returned to Scottsdale to bring Erika<\/strong> to Utah to be by her husband\u2019s side, and she learned that he died while still in the air on her way to Provo. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m looking at the clouds and the mountains,\u201d she shared. \u201cIt was such a gorgeous day, and I was thinking: This is exactly what he last saw.\u201d<\/p>\n After she arrived at the hospital, the sheriff met her and offered her to see her husband, but advised against as the bullet \u201cravaged\u201d his neck. <\/p>\n \u201cWith all due respect,\u201d Erika <\/strong>told the sheriff. \u201cI want to see what they did to my husband.\u201d<\/p>\n While she prepared for the worst, what she saw surprised her. <\/p>\n \u201cHis eyes were semi-open,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd he had this knowing, Mona Lisa-like half-smile. Like he\u2019d died happy. Like Jesus rescued him. The bullet came, he blinked, and he was in heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n Erika<\/strong> also shared that she still can\u2019t bring herself to go into their bedroom and has been rotating where she sleeps. <\/p>\n The widow, who has since been named the new CEO<\/a> of Turning Point USA, is pictured here attending her late husband\u2019s memorial<\/a> at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Sunday (September 21). She got emotional while on stage before giving remarks and remembering her husband, and she also joined President Donald Trump<\/strong><\/a>, even leaning her head on his shoulder. <\/p>\n At the memorial, Erika<\/strong> noted that she forgives the suspected shooter, Tyler Robinson<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cThat young man, that young man,\u201d she shared through tears, via The Wrap<\/a><\/em>. \u201cOn the cross, our savior said, \u2018Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat man, that young man,\u201d she repeated. \u201cI forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did and is what Charlie <\/strong>would do.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us,\u201d Erika<\/strong> added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
