Angelina Jolie<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about politics.<\/p>\n The 50-year-old actress, director and activist got candid when asked about living in America during the 2025 San Sebasti\u00e1n Film Festival<\/em><\/strong>, where she\u2019s premiering her new film Couture<\/em>.<\/p>\n When asked about what she feared as an artist and an American, she reportedly \u201csighed deeply\u201d and take some time before answering, per Variety<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is a very difficult question.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cI love my country, but at this time, I don\u2019t recognize my country,\u201d she went on to say.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life\u2026 My worldview is equal, united, and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous. These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.\u201d<\/p>\n Later on, she reportedly \u201cheld back tears\u201d when being thanked for speaking out \u201cabout Palestine and people who are voiceless\u201d by an audience member, who also brought up her Couture<\/em> character wearing a necklace that belonged to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very hard to speak [about] my mother,\u201d she emotionally responded.<\/p>\n \u201c[Maxine] would love my mother. I did wear my mother\u2019s necklace. I also wore her ashes. I thought about her a lot. I think everybody in this room has sat in a hospital room. Maybe some of you have been through heavier things. In the film, I would think about these moments, and wish [my mother] had this community.
