Jimmy Kimmel<\/strong><\/a> was the talk of late-night television on Thursday, September 18, despite his own show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em><\/a>, being taken off the air by ABC earlier this week.<\/p>\n

ABC pulled the talk show<\/a> from its schedules on Wednesday, September 17, after criticism over Kimmel\u2019s comments<\/a> about the death of conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk<\/strong>. \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live<\/em> will be pre-empted indefinitely,\u201d an ABC spokesperson confirmed to Us Weekly<\/em> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Kimmel, 57, prompted a strong rebuke from President Donald Trump<\/strong> administration member Brendan Carr<\/strong>, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Two major ABC affiliate owners \u2014 Nexstar and Sinclair \u2014 pulled the show in major markets around the U.S., prompting ABC\u2019s nationwide suspension.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Kimmel\u2019s late night comrades weighed in on the show\u2019s indefinite hiatus and expressed their support for Kimmel.<\/p>\n

The Tonight Show<\/em><\/a> host addressed the situation<\/a> on Thursday\u2019s episode, saying, \u201cWell guys, the big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the FCC, leaving everyone thinking WTF.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis morning, I woke up to 100 text messages from my dad saying, \u2018I\u2019m sorry they canceled your show.\u2019 I go, \u2018That\u2019s not me, that\u2019s Jimmy Kimmel.\u2019 But to be honest with you all, I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on and no one does, but I do know Jimmy Kimmel, and he is a decent, loving and funny guy, and I hope he comes back,\u201d Fallon said.<\/p>\n

Fallon promised to keep covering the news \u2014 including the Trump administration \u2014 \u201clike I normally would,\u201d despite people worrying that the show would \u201cbe censored.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over on The Late Show<\/em><\/a>, Colbert \u2014 whose own show was canceled by CBS in July<\/a> \u2014 opened Thursday\u2019s episode<\/a> poignantly saying, \u201cI\u2019m your host, Stephen Colbert. But tonight, we are all Jimmy Kimmel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Colbert accused ABC of capitulating to pressure from Carr, the chairman of the FCC, and said, \u201cIf ABC thinks that this is gonna satisfy the regime, they\u2019re woefully naive. This is blatant censorship. \u2026 With an autocrat, you cannot give an inch. Jimmy, I stand with you and your staff 100 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Late Night<\/em>, Meyers vowed \u201cto keep doing our show the way we\u2019ve always done it, with enthusiasm and integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n
