Bill Condon<\/a>-directed adaptation of the Broadway show, which premieres in cinemas on 10 October and the song is being released by Lakeshore Records.<\/p>\nIt debuted on Thursday (18.09.25), ahead of the film\u2019s wider soundtrack launch on 3 October.<\/p>\n
In a press release, Lakeshore Records described the track as a \u201cstrikingly emotive song\u201d that takes centre stage during a key moment in the film. <\/p>\n
Originally written by John Kander in 1990, Never You was previously only performed during early developmental stagings at the State University of New York. <\/p>\n
\nThe film marks the first time the number has been included in a major production.<\/p>\n
\nJennifer said after a screening at Sundance in January: \u201cI\u2019ve been waiting for this moment my whole life. When you talk about the importance of musicals, the reason that I even wanted to be in this business was because my mom would sit me in front of the TV\u2026 we\u2019d come on once a year, West Side Story on Thanksgiving. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI remember I was just mesmerized. And I was like, \u2018That\u2019s what I want to do.\u2019 And that was always my goal. And this is the first time I actually got to do it. This crowd made my dream come true!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKiss of the Spider Woman tells the story of Valent\u00edn, played by Diego Luna, a political prisoner who shares a cell with Molina, portrayed by Tonatiuh, a window dresser jailed for public indecency. <\/p>\n
\nMolina distracts himself by recounting the story of a Hollywood musical starring his idol Ingrid Luna, played by Jennifer. <\/p>\n
\nShe also takes on the role of Aurora, a mysterious siren who haunts the narrative.<\/p>\n
\nThe production brings together music by Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, blending old-Hollywood glamour with the harsh reality of prison life. <\/p>\n
\nThe musical is based on the 1993 Broadway production written by Terrence McNally, itself adapted from Manuel Puig\u2019s 1976 novel. <\/p>\n
\nThe stage version ran until 1995, winning seven Tony Awards including best musical, best actress for Chita Rivera, best actor for Brent Carver and best featured actor for Anthony Crivello.<\/p>\n
\nNever You is now available to stream, ahead of the film\u2019s release in October.<\/p>\n
