Chrissy Teigen<\/strong><\/a> is getting candid about a topic that\u2019s dominated headlines, social feeds and Hollywood circles \u2014 and this time, she\u2019s sharing her personal story.<\/p>\n

The model<\/a>, 39, revealed that she started taking GLP-1 medication Ozempic after she and husband John Legend<\/strong><\/a> suffered the devastating loss of their late son, Jack, in 2020.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere I was, existing in a body that didn\u2019t feel like mine, with absolutely nothing to celebrate \u2014 just the constant reminder that this body that once carried life for 20 weeks, was now just a \u2026 sad reminder,\u201d she captioned an Instagram post on Thursday, September 18.<\/p>\n

\u201cFood has always been my joy, my comfort, and my struggle,\u201d the cookbook author continued, detailing the \u201cshame, the relief and the weirdness of losing hunger\u201d that she felt.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOzempic has become a hot topic when it comes to weight loss \u2014 with some stars confirming they have used the drug while others denied it. Chelsea Handler admitted during a January 2023 episode of the \u201cCall Her Daddy\u201d podcast that she unknowingly took the Type 2 diabetes medication, which is traditionally used to improve [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Teigen spoke in detail about taking Ozempic \u2014 a type 2 injectable diabetes drug that gained popularity due to its weight loss benefits \u2014 with Johann Hari<\/strong>, author of The Magic Pill<\/em>, on her \u201cSelf-Conscious with Chrissy Teigen<\/a>\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started at .5 and I worked my way up to 15 really quickly though, probably within three months,\u201d Teigen shared on the episode.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking back on the photos actually, I think you go into, like, this Ozempic blindness, and I think a lot of people<\/a> do it when they start it. You end up losing such an incredible amount of weight that you just are so excited and proud or whatever that feeling is \u2014 that you don\u2019t realize that you\u2019ve lost too much,\u201d the star continued.<\/p>\n

She went on to discuss the heartbreak of losing her son Jack at \u201ca little over 20 weeks\u201d along.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy body was completely stuck,\u201d she said following her miscarriage. \u201cI really let myself indulge when I was pregnant. So, when I had lost that baby at 20 weeks, I had probably gained an extra 40 pounds that I wasn\u2019t comfortable with.\u201d<\/p>\n

After seeing results with Ozempic, \u201cI felt mentally better because I wasn\u2019t constantly, like, in this deep depression of seeing this pregnant belly with no baby in it,\u201d Teigen explained. \u201cI also felt released from the prison of thinking about food in bad ways. Good food in bad ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s insane what it did for not only me physically, but mentally,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
