Robert Munsch<\/b>, the beloved author behind the classic children\u2019s book <\/span>Love You Forever<\/span><\/i>, is opening up about the final chapter of his life.<\/span><\/p>\n The 80-year-old author, who was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s disease and dementia in 2021, revealed in a new interview with <\/span>The New York Times<\/span><\/i><\/a> that he has made the difficult decision to have an <\/span>assisted death<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n While Munsch<\/a> has not yet set a date, he shared the moment he\u2019ll know it\u2019s time. \u201cWhen I start having real trouble talking and communicating,\u201d he told The New York Times. \u201cThen I\u2019ll know.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Munsch shared that the diseases have already begun taking a toll on his daily life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He now relies on a walker after struggling with balance and experiencing several falls at home. Reading has also become a challenge, as he can\u2019t always recall what happened in the previous chapter. And he admitted that fatigue often keeps him from even going outside.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy life is shrinking that way,\u201d he told the publication.<\/span><\/p>\n Munsch further explained that his <\/span>decision<\/span><\/a> to go through with an assisted death was shaped by his brother\u2019s devastating battle with Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease (ALS).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThey kept him alive through all these interventions.
