He\u2019s only human!\u00a0Nick Jonas<\/strong><\/a> revealed how a duet with Kelsea Ballerini<\/strong><\/a> at the Academy of Country Music Awards<\/a> in 2016 became his all-time \u201cworst moment\u201d on stage.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cA\u00a0really tragic guitar solo debacle\u00a0\u2026\u00a0<\/b>happened on live TV,\u201d Jonas, 30, recalled during the Monday, May 22, episode of \u201cArmchair Expert With Dax Shepard<\/a>\u201d of the event, where he joined the country star, 29, for a duet. \u201cIn retrospect, I can kind of laugh about how big I thought it was. But it did travel more than I wish it would have, and it did cause me to go to therapy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The twosome \u2014 who had previously had a \u201ccouple performances together,\u201d according to the \u201cLevels\u201d singer \u2014 were there to perform Ballerini\u2019s hit single \u201cPeter Pan\u201d off her debut record, The First Time<\/em>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI come out for my thing. I rehearsed it a million times. I\u2019m feeling really confident about it \u2014 not even really thinking about it like it\u2019s a thing that\u2019s going to be problematic,\u201d he continued. \u201cI started off, it was fine and as I walked towards her, I just went completely blank<\/a> and I hit a wrong note and blacked out basically and clocked that it was wrong and I couldn\u2019t stop.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Jonas made headlines immediately following the flub, with fans taking to social media to poke fun at the musician for his mishap. Some social media users even made tutorials on how to play the wrong version on the guitar. The New Jersey native, however, tried his best to respond to the jokes with good humor.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cJust landed in London to all these posts from Sunday nights performance,\u201d he tweeted at the time. \u201cSo funny. Yes, I screwed up the solo thanks to a huge brain fart.\u201d The JoBro<\/a> then followed up his post with a fan-made page of sheet music with the incorrect notes, writing, \u201cWe\u2019re all human and s\u2014t happens sometimes, but whoever made this is a genius.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Revisiting it years later, the Camp Rock<\/em> star told host Dax Shepard<\/strong><\/a> he still \u201ccan\u2019t really figure out exactly what happened\u201d to cause the error,\u00a0adding that he was \u201crushed to a plane\u201d right after the incident with little time to process<\/a> what happened.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI looked at my manager and said, \u2018I think that was bad.\u2019 I was, like, in shock kinda. It was a really traumatic moment that shaped the pressure I put on myself to be perfect and to always be on,\u201d he shared.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n While Jonas may look back on the 2016 ACMs with regret,\u00a0Ballerini\u00a0<\/b>doesn\u2019t hold it against him. The Rolling Up the Welcome Mat<\/em> songstress\u00a0<\/b>opened for the Jonas Brothers on their Remember This Tour<\/em> in 2021 and even duetted the \u201cWaffle House\u201d artist\u2019s 2016 single \u201cClose\u201d during the show.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m a huge fan of him. I was a huge Jonas Brothers fan, unapologetically, when I was 12 or 13. His solo stuff is just incredible and it was really cool to collaborate with him on the awards. I\u2019d totally do more with him if I could,\u201d Ballerini told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in 2016 following the ACMs, noting that Jonas \u201ceased her nerves\u201d on stage during her first big awards show. \u201cI thought, \u2018If I mess up, he has me.\u2019 It kind of eased my nerves a bit. He\u2019s such a sweet dude. We\u2019ve known each other for a year, so it wasn\u2019t a weird, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m\u00a0Kelsea.
