The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em><\/a> fans have watched the cast change on and off screen ahead of the show\u2019s series finale.<\/p>\n

Based on Jenny Han\u2019s three novels, The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em> is focused on a love triangle<\/a> between Belly (Lola Tung<\/strong>), Conrad (Christopher Briney<\/strong>) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno<\/strong>). In addition to the main trio, viewers have also learned more about Belly\u2019s brother, Steven (Sean Kaufman<\/strong>), mom Laurel (Jackie Chung<\/strong>) and best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Han wrote a trilogy \u2014 The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em>, It\u2019s Not Summer Without You<\/em> and We\u2019ll Always Have Summer<\/em> \u2014 which hinted that the show would only last three seasons. Vernon Sanders,<\/strong> head of television at Amazon and MGM Studios, previously hinted at plans to expand the onscreen universe.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI will say stay tuned, but Jenny\u2019s got some exciting surprises. So we\u2019re thrilled about a season 3, and she\u2019s got a vision for more,\u201d he told Deadline<\/em> in September 2023. \u201cThis show is going to continue to be a huge centerpiece for us, and we absolutely have plans to continue building it. Jenny\u2019s got great vision for where she wants to go with all of it, but we\u2019re already hard at work developing complementary pieces.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later, however, Sanders shut down the idea of a possible Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em> spinoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was probably wishful thinking for me at the time, and Jenny has stayed really focused [on] getting these seasons right,\u201d he shared with Deadline<\/em> in July 2025. \u201cWe\u2019re pursuing new and different things with Jenny right now. She\u2019s presented some other things that are related to this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sanders noted that he hoped to continue<\/a> to collaborate with Han in some capacity.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo once the full season is launched, we\u2019ll get into conversations, and we\u2019ll ask her to pick from the many things that she\u2019s surfaced,\u201d he added. \u201cBut we\u2019ve moved away from those conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since The Summer I Turned Pretty<\/em>, Briney has been cast in Dal\u00edland<\/em> and the Mean Girls<\/em> remake. He has also appeared<\/a> in the Broadway play Dilaria<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Briney has been in a relationship with Isabel Machado<\/strong> since 2021 after meeting at Pace University.<\/p>\n
