A coroner has concluded that there\u2019s no \u201cevidence\u201d that a Cleveland, Ohio college student was \u201cphysically attacked\u201d before his death.<\/p>\n
Following the death of 21-year old Demartravion \u201cTrey\u201d Reed<\/strong> on Monday, September 15, Bolivar County coroner Randolph Seals, Jr<\/strong>. said that he did not appear to suffer any lacerations, contusions, compound fractures, broken bones or injuries that lead him to believe he was assaulted.<\/p>\n \u201cAt this time, there is no evidence to suggest the individual was physically attacked before his death,\u201d Seals, Jr. said, according to local outlet WAPT<\/a>.<\/p>\n Reed\u2019s body was found hanging from a tree by a faculty member at Delta State University near the pickleball courts Monday morning.<\/p>\n \u201cAt 7:32 a.m., the Bolivar County Coroner\u2019s office was notified by the Cleveland Police Department regarding an unresponsive individual on the campus of Delta State University. In light of Reed\u2019s death, many students grew concerned for their safety on campus.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, because I am a Black student, hearing that happened to another black student, it really makes me feel unsafe,\u201d DSU student Stacie Hoskins<\/strong> told WAPT. Fellow student Eriana Murphy<\/strong> added, \u201cI do have to walk to class, and I like to go walk the track, and it just, it would be nice to know what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n Similar to the coroner\u2019s findings, DSU police Chief Michael Peeler<\/strong> said investigators were unable to find evidence of foul play. \u201cPending an investigation, further investigation, and also from the medical examiner\u2019s office, we won\u2019t have more information until that part has been done,\u201d Peeler said, per WAPT.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Reed\u2019s family members are insisting that authorities conduct a thorough investigation into his death. \u201cPlease, do your own research on this. Do not let them sweep nothing under the rug. Enough is enough,\u201d his cousin, who was not named, said per WAPT.<\/p>\n
