Tim Allen<\/strong>\u2018s Shifting Gears<\/em> has had several high-profile guest stars \u2014 but which The White Lotus<\/em><\/a> alum does showrunner Michelle Nader<\/strong> want to bring onboard?<\/p>\n

\u201cA couple of people are telling us [that they want to join the show]. I can\u2019t say who and we\u2019re thinking of how to get the right role. But we also have our people that we want to see,\u201d Nader shared during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em> at the ABC Summer Soir\u00e9e on September 5. \u201cI want to get Jennifer Coolidge in the show. I want to get some of those people to come around. We have a lot up our sleeve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nader went on to hint that viewers are in for some surprises<\/a> \u2014 especially when it comes to onscreen Easter eggs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were very intentional about those things because what we want to do in a modern sitcom is bring the elements of modern television \u2014 like serialization and streaming,\u201d she explained. \u201cSo we felt like we really wanted to slow play these relationships in a romantic comedy way. So yes, you\u2019re going to see some real results from those Easter eggs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve worked with Tim before on a film, so I know he\u2019s lovely. He\u2019s so good at what he does,\u201d Elfman, 53, who plays Allen\u2019s onscreen love interest, told Us<\/em> in February. \u201cIt\u2019s like you don\u2019t even see it happening, and then all of a sudden, it\u2019s just brilliant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elfman praised the show\u2019s vision. \u201cI loved [the] take on how to approach the family at the center of [Shifting Gears] and the generational divides culturally, politically and emotionally. It\u2019s a sitcom but it\u2019s grounded with talent who knows how to act and who knows how to deliver comedy,\u201d she added. \u201cAt the same time, the writing really supports that as well. Everything felt right for me to come play, and I\u2019m so glad I did because I had a very good time. We just finished filming the final episode last night, and it\u2019s so good.\u201d<\/p>\n
