NCIS: Tony & Ziva<\/em> brings NCIS<\/em><\/a> alums Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David back into limelight \u2014 but what have they been up to since leaving the Washington, D.C., office?<\/p>\n

During the series premiere on Thursday, September 4, fans were transported to modern times where Tony (Michael Weatherly<\/strong><\/a>) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo<\/strong><\/a>) are coparenting their daughter, Tali (Isla Gie<\/strong>), two decades after their meet-cute on NCIS<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Warning: Spoilers below from season 1 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva.<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n

Tony & Ziva<\/em><\/a> takes place in September and October 2025 \u2014 at least to start \u2014 but flashes back to 2020, a year in which NCIS<\/em> fans never saw Tony nor Ziva\u2019s life together in France.<\/p>\n

The five years between Ziva and Tony\u2019s in-person reunion in January 2020 to solving a cyber-crime case in fall 2025 have been a mystery, until now. The Paramount+ show dives into the missing years between the former couple while slowly peeling back the layers of their dynamic in 2025.<\/p>\n

Luckily for fans, Us Weekly<\/em> is keeping track of all the missing moments and piecing them together weekly.<\/p>\n

During Tony & Ziva<\/em>\u2019s premiere, fans are taken down memory lane<\/a> to the special agents\u2019 first meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi, I\u2019m Special Agent Tony DiNozzo<\/a>. Who are you?\u201d Tony cheekily asks Ziva, during a season 3 episode of NCIS<\/em>, two years after viewers were introduced to Tony.<\/p>\n

Ziva quickly responds, \u201cZiva David. Massad. We\u2019re going to be working together.\u201d<\/p>\n

2013<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Flash forward to 2013, when Ziva and Tony can no longer deny their connection<\/a>. During the memory scene, Tony tells Ziva he is \u201cfighting\u201d for her and while Ziva tells him she must \u201cstart over alone,\u201d she reminds him he is \u201cso loved.\u201d<\/p>\n

2016<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ziva is presumed dead after a terrorist attack in Israel takes out her family\u2019s home. Shortly after the bombing, Tony learns that he and Ziva share a daughter, Tali, and he leaves NCIS to care for her and find \u201canswers\u201d about Ziva\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

NCIS<\/em> fans learned that Ziva was alive during season 17 of the OG series. According to Tony & Ziva <\/em>it wasn\u2019t until 2020 that she reunited with Tony and their little girl for the first time.<\/p>\n

January 2020 <\/strong><\/h2>\n

During the show\u2019s first episode, viewers see Ziva\u2019s arrival in France via a flashback. \u201cHi,\u201d Tony says after Ziva hugs Tali at the airport. \u201cHi. You\u2019re crying,\u201d she replies. \u201cSo are you, on the inside,\u201d Tony teases.<\/p>\n

Ziva doesn\u2019t skip a beat, telling her partner, \u201cYeah, well we goddamn deserve it.\u201d She then kisses Tony after being apart for years.<\/p>\n

While the reunion is sweet, Ziva later reveals that before they left the airport, she was triggered by a canister falling on the tarmac and pulled her weapon on foreign police. The incident resulted in Ziva starting therapy, which at the start of Tony & Ziva<\/em> has been going on for five years.<\/p>\n

March 2020 <\/strong><\/h2>\n

In an episode 2 flashback, fans are transported to Ziva and Tony\u2019s life together raising Tali and living under the same roof, temporarily. After Tali falls asleep in her room, the pair go into Tony\u2019s living room, and he reveals he\u2019s been sleeping on the couch so Ziva can have his bed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so sorry,\u201d Tony says after fondly placing his hand on Ziva\u2019s face. \u201cIt\u2019s OK,\u201d she replies, noting that going \u201cslow\u201d is \u201cnot fun,\u201d but she has a \u201clot to unpack\u201d in therapy and wants to focus on that.<\/p>\n

Tony is supportive, telling her, \u201cI am here whatever you need.\u201d<\/p>\n

April 2020<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While drinking wine at dinner during an episode 3 flashback, Ziva and Tony share an intimate moment. \u201cHere we are. Two ordinary people with normal jobs,\u201d Ziva says after securing a location for her language school. Tony points out, \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything ordinary about Ziva David.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Ziva worries, \u201cWhat if I just can\u2019t be normal?\u201d Tony assures her, \u201cI think that\u2019s where I come in.\u201d He then playfully feeds her fruit and jokes that\u2019s what \u201cordinary people\u201d enjoy doing.<\/p>\n

After dinner, the pair return to their shared space and start making out. \u201cWe shouldn\u2019t. \u2026 I don\u2019t want to send [Tali] any mixed messages,\u201d Ziva says, while Tony argues, \u201cMaybe us being together is the stability Tali needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ziva tries to deny her feelings for Tony but ultimately gives in and they sleep together. \u201cYou always got me in a lot of trouble,\u201d she teases.<\/p>\n

May 2020 <\/strong><\/h2>\n

In a separate flashback from episode 3, Ziva reveals she got her own apartment as part of her therapy and healing, which crushes Tony. \u201cI\u2019m fine. Everything\u2019s fine,\u201d he tells her after cutting his finger with a knife prepping dinner.<\/p>\n

Ziva later wonders in therapy if it was a \u201cmistake\u201d to move out on her own. \u201cI just want to give her as normal a life as possible. There\u2019s never been anything normal about my relationship with Tony,\u201d she confesses.<\/p>\n

June 2020<\/h2>\n

During a playdate with Tali at the park shown in episode 4, Ziva panics when a woman hands her a cupcake. She later learns she is a mom from Tali\u2019s school. That evening, Tali has a nightmare, and Ziva blames herself for pushing her fears onto her child.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is all my fault. The cupcake on the playground and then I leave her here with all my thoughts,\u201d Ziva tells Tony, who tries to reassure her, \u201cWe are both here for her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ziva snaps, \u201cNo, you are. I go home and then I leave her here with you. The same way I did when she was 2 and I gave her to you. I don\u2019t want to disappear on my little girl again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tony takes a beat and then says, \u201cThen don\u2019t. Don\u2019t leave.\u201d He pulls off his ring, explaining, \u201cI have this family ring passed from father to son.\u201d Once down on one knee, Tony asks, \u201cZiva, will you marry me?\u201d<\/p>\n

Ziva gets down on her knees and responds, \u201cYes,\u201d before passionately kissing Tony in the living room.<\/p>\n

While in a safe house in Italy \u2014 as seen during episode 2 \u2014 Tony and Ziva must share a bed to accommodate everyone else on their team. The pair wake up cuddling in the morning, but don\u2019t talk about the intimate moment. (Tony and Ziva are on the run while trying to prove that they are being set up for stealing money from Interpol).<\/p>\n
