The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2022\/11\/michelle-yeoh-interview-everything-everywhere-all-at-once\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oscar-winning star<\/a> of <em>Everything Everywhere All At Once<\/em> got to do just that Sunday night in Cannes when she was honored with Kering\u2019s Women in Motion Award. \u201cI have watched the currents throughout my entire career, and I am watching the tides turn now,\u201d Yeoh said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yeoh, who also won a Golden Globe and SAG Award this year, was given the Women in Motion Award in front of seated guests who included <strong>Leonardo DiCaprio, Isabelle Hupert, Rebel Wilson, Alfonso Cuaron, Salma Hayek,<\/strong> jury president <strong>Ruben \u00d6stlund,<\/strong> jury members <strong>Paul Dano<\/strong> and <strong>Brie Larson,<\/strong> President of the Festival de Cannes <strong>Iris Knobloch<\/strong>, and Director of the Festival de Cannes <strong>Thierry Fr\u00e9maux<\/strong>. The elegant dining experience set below hundreds of twinkling lights on a hilltop above Cannes is an annual celebration of the accomplishments of women in culture and the arts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">\u201cFor too long we as women have been left out of rooms and conversations. We have been told the door is closed to us,\u201d she said. \u201cWell, Virginia Woolf once said, \u2018there is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind.\u2019 Our ideas are endless. Our passion is infinite. And we have come to knock that door down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">Yeoh went on to mention several of her most iconic characters \u201cwho are strong, capable and unafraid to stand up for themselves,\u201d including Wai Lin from <em>Tomorrow Never Dies,<\/em> Yu Shu Lien from <em>Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon<\/em>, and Evelyn Wang from <em>Everything Everywhere All at Once<\/em>. \u201cThey have taught me so many lessons about how I would like to move through the world: with integrity, with perseverance and above all with fierce compassion,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">Yeoh, who has been filming the <em>Wicked<\/em> movie adaptation in London, attended the world premiere of <em>Firebrand<\/em> earlier that evening wearing a show-stopping green Balenciaga gown. That night, she wrapped up her acceptance speech \u2014\u00a0one of so many she\u2019s given over the past year and a half \u2014 by looking at what lies ahead when it comes to opportunities for women in film. \u201cThere is still work to do. We have a long way to go before we can say we are on equal footing.\u201d she said. \u201cSo what I would like to say is keep fighting, keep pushing, keep telling your stories.
