Julianne Hough<\/strong><\/a> says her three older sisters feel \u201csadness\u201d that they didn\u2019t achieve the same level of success as her and brother Derek Hough<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Julianne, 37, and Derek, 40, have three older siblings, Sharee<\/strong>, 48, Marabeth<\/strong>, 44, and Katherine<\/strong>, 43, who were also entertainers, however, their lives took them on \u201cdifferent paths,\u201d according to the Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a> cohost.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy three older sisters, they all danced and sang and acted. We were in, like, a band. We were just always in it,\u201d Julianne said on the Tuesday, September 9, episode of the \u201cNot Skinny But Not Fat\u201d<\/a> podcast. \u201cMy grandparents met dancing, my parents met dancing. It\u2019s in the blood.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Julianne and Derek found fame on Dancing With the Stars<\/em> and other projects, their sisters found different callings. (Julianne and Derek were both professional dancers on the show before Julianne transitioned to cohost and Derek became a judge.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhat can\u2019t she do? Julianne Hough made her mark on\u00a0Dancing With the Stars\u00a0before moving on to conquer acting, singing and more. The professional dancer joined the ABC competition series in 2007 and won the mirrorball trophy during her inaugural season. Later that year, she became a back-to-back champion. Hough then shifted her focus toward acting, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMy oldest sister, she started in the Mormon way, so she got married at 19 and had six kids,\u201d Julianne said. \u201cMy second sister moved to Nashville to be a country star. My third sister wanted to be an actress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked if there was ever any jealousy over her and Derek\u2019s Hollywood success, Julianne admitted, \u201cWe\u2019ve had this conversation many times. There\u2019s no jealousy, but there is, like, a sadness that maybe there wasn\u2019t an opportunity for them to experience it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re so happy. So, so, so happy. And look, they have great lives and they love their life. \u2026 We had an opportunity that they didn\u2019t have and it\u2019s hard,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Julianne said she and Derek weren\u2019t always open about their career achievements with their siblings, which caused them to grow \u201cfurther and further apart.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRylee Arnold isn\u2019t the first family member \u2014 let alone sibling \u2014 of a Dancing With the Stars pro or contestant to enter the ballroom. Julianne Hough was the first dancer to face off against her brother, Derek Hough, on the ABC competition series. After Julianne got her start on the series in season 4 [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cDerek and I were always so close because we had shared experiences. Whereas [with our sisters], we never wanted to share because we were afraid to hurt someone\u2019s feelings,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
