Miley Cyrus<\/strong><\/a> actually can stop. Despite the name of her chart-topping single, \u201cWe Can\u2019t Stop,\u201d the songstress has opened up about taking a break from live tours<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been a minute,\u201d the \u201cFlowers\u201d singer<\/a>, 30, said of her multiyear hiatus during her\u00a0British Vogue\u00a0<\/i><\/a>cover story, which was published on Thursday, May 18. \u201cAfter the last [arena] show I did, I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can\u2019t. Not only \u2018can\u2019t\u2019 because can\u2019t is your capability, but my desire.\u201d<\/p>\n She added: \u201cDo I want to live my life for anyone else\u2019s pleasure or fulfillment other than my own? And, you know what\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n Cyrus \u2014 who last headlined a concert tour<\/a> in 2014 \u2014 revealed that she wasn\u2019t sure if she could hit the road in the foreseeable future. The former child star even noted that the \u201ctraditional\u201d cycle of recording an album, going on tours and releasing strategic collaborations \u201chold little interest\u201d anymore as she\u2019d rather produce works of substance<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI wouldn\u2019t erase my story<\/a> or want it to be erased,\u201d Cyrus told\u00a0British Vogue.\u00a0<\/i>\u201cHaving an interesting life makes for interesting storytelling.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued: \u201cOne thing I wouldn\u2019t want this story to become is a complaint of being a woman in the industry. I don\u2019t need this to be a women\u2019s empowerment<\/a> story. I wear my empowerment at all times. I don\u2019t need to profess it.\u201d<\/p>\n Cyrus rose to fame as the title character on Disney Channel\u2019s\u00a0Hannah Montana<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>upon its 2006 premiere. As the show grew in popularity, so did the Tennessee native. Following her TV success<\/a> (and fictionalized pop career), Cyrus started making music under her own name. Her latest album,\u00a0Endless Summer Vacation<\/i>, dropped in 2022<\/a>. The new LP features a hit song called \u201cFlowers,\u201d<\/a> which seemingly refers to her 2019 split<\/a> from ex-husband Liam Hemsworth<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI never need to be a master at the craft of tricking an audience,\u201d the \u201cMidnight Sky\u201d musician told the magazine when asked about the song\u2019s similarities<\/a> to her breakup. \u201cIt will set itself on fire all by itself. \u2026 I wrote it in a really different way. The chorus was originally: \u2018I can buy myself flowers, write my name in the sand, but I can\u2019t love me better than you can.\u2019 It used to be more, like, 1950s. The saddest song. Like: \u2018Sure, I can be my own lover, but you\u2019re so much better.\u2019 The song is a little fake it till you make it<\/a>, which I\u2019m a big fan of.\u201d<\/p>\n Cyrus and the 33-year-old Australia native, who met on the set of their 2010 film\u00a0The Last Song<\/i><\/a>, finalized their divorce in January 2020<\/a>. The Disney Channel alum has since moved on with Maxx Morando<\/strong><\/a>, while Hemsworth found love with Gabriella Brooks<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
