Alicia Silverstone<\/strong><\/a> is recalling a \u201chorrendous\u201d experience she had with paparazzi when she was a young adult.<\/p>\n Silverstone, 48, opened up about the intense scrutiny she received from tabloids while filming Batman & Robin<\/em> in 1997 during her Monday, September 8, appearance on Dax Shepard<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cArmchair Expert<\/a>\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n \u201cI was running through the airport,\u201d Silverstone, who was around 20 years old when she was tapped to play Batgirl in the film, said. The movie came two years after her role as Cher Horowitz in Clueless<\/em> shot her to stardom.<\/p>\n The Crush actress recalled \u201chiding\u201d in \u201ca little square box\u201d in the airport while paparazzi shouted at her, mostly calling her by the nickname \u201cFatgirl.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s clever,\u201d she conceded. \u201cDo you know what I would say back? \u2026 I mean, in my head because I didn\u2019t want to talk to them. [I would say,] \u2018How do you go home at night and speak to your children?\u2019 Like [if] your daughter is a huge fan of mine. Tell her, \u2018Oh, I told the person you love and admire that she\u2019s fat today.\u2019 Does that feel good?\u201d<\/p>\n Silverstone continued, \u201cAnd also, what does that tell your daughter that she\u2019s supposed to be? \u2018Cause if this body is not OK, then what body is OK?\u201d<\/p>\n She concluded, \u201cIt was really intense and it sucked. \u2026 It definitely had its effects for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n Silverstone previously opened up about being body-shamed<\/a> by paparazzi and tabloids while filming Batman & Robin<\/em> in a 2020 interview with The Guardian<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThey would make fun of my body when I was younger,\u201d she said, revealing that a journalist even once asked for her bra size. \u201cIt was hurtful, but I knew they were wrong. I wasn\u2019t confused. I knew that it was not right to make fun of someone\u2019s body shape, that doesn\u2019t seem like the right thing to be doing to a human.\u201d<\/p>\n Silverstone continued, \u201cThat definitely wasn\u2019t my favorite filmmaking experience. There were working circumstances that were less than favorable in terms of how things went down.\u201d<\/p>\n The Irish Blood<\/em> star also opened up about what she learned from the experience.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t say \u2018f*** you\u2019 and come out like a warrior, but I would just walk away and go, \u2018OK, I know what that is and I\u2019m done, I\u2019m not going near that again,\u2019\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Silverstone has since changed her perspective on reacting to criticism. In 2022, she shared a screenshot of a throwback photo labeled \u201cAlicia Silverstone Candid Fat Photo.\u201d Silverstone gave the camera the middle finger<\/a> as Gayle<\/strong>\u2019s song \u201cABCDEFU\u201d played over the clip.<\/p>\n
