The 31-year-old former One Direction singer bought the first of two houses in north London\u00a0for \u00a38.8million in April 2019, added a second adjoining home for \u00a34million, and last year purchased a third property nearby, according to documents seen by The Daily Telegraph \u2013 and is now facing claims his proposal to join\u00a0the two could obstruct natural light from surrounding houses.<\/p>\n
He was granted permission in April to redevelop the site on the condition wildlife habitats, including hedgehog and bat boxes, were installed.<\/p>\n
Under the proposals, Harry intends to build what has been described as a \u201cmonster mansion\u201d featuring a master suite with four dressing rooms, a gallery, drawing room, TV room, basement cinema, pool, sauna, gym and landscaped garden with a water feature.<\/p>\n
But some local residents have raised concerns. <\/p>\n
\nOne neighbour told The Telegraph: \u201cIt\u2019s sad living next to a building site all the time. This road didn\u2019t used to be like this. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAll the houses are now constantly being bought by millionaires and redone. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s another house down at the bottom of the road, which I\u2019m sure will be bought up and renovated like the others. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s also unfortunately less community among the neighbours than there was since people have moved on from the area.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nTwo neighbours have lodged formal complaints to the council over Harry\u2019s plans, warning their legal rights to light could be affected. <\/p>\n
\nRepresentatives for one homeowner wrote: \u201cMy client is also deeply concerned about their private legal Rights to Light that might be infringed by virtue of the implementation of the proposal or a similar scheme of this nature.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nAnother complaint said: \u201cThe building will be much larger in scale to all existing properties on the road, which are two stories, therefore out of scale. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cWe appreciate that the building was originally three stories, and the planning application is to restore the building; however, the majority of the road did not exist when it was three stories, and the buildings that exist were outbuildings.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn planning submissions, Harry\u2019s representatives said: \u201cThe proposed development has been carefully crafted to bring the building back as one of the great Hampstead houses. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt proposes to amalgamate the two houses, along with internal and alterations, extensions to the second, ground and lower ground floors, and extensive landscaping in order to reinstate and provide substantial enhancement to the Grade II listed building.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThey added meetings had been held with residents who raised questions about daylight and construction disruption. <\/p>\n
\nA daylight and sunlight study was subsequently commissioned, concluding there would be \u201ca negligible impact on neighbouring properties in terms of daylight and sunlight\u201d.<\/p>\n
\nHarry aims for the development to be completed by October 2027.<\/p>\n
